Marrell, a happily married army wife, adores her family, but throughout her life she’s felt something missing. When she discovers that the void is spiritual, she is afraid to tell her husband. Will he understand that he cannot meet all of her needs, and that she cannot meet all of his?
Covering the lives of Marrell and her two daughters, Mackenzie and Delancey, from the 1970s to the 1990s, Pretense is a character–rich novel written from Lori’s heart that shows the patient love of God and the promise of His forgiveness for all who seek Him.

Lori Wick does an incredible job in this book. I could not put it down and finished it in 3 days! Characters were well thought out and the plot and scenery was wonderful. I laughed and I cried - I was humbled and I rejoiced. Too amazing for many more words! Just read it!

I first read this book about 5 years ago. I wouldn't recommend all of Lori Wick's books but this one is a definite must. Even if you don't really like Lori Wick I think you will find that this one is special. It follows the lives of two sisters throughout their hardships and their joys. I have a sister with whom I am very close, and I think that relationship only added to the impact this book had on me. I recently reread it all the way through and I was surprised because parts of it still made me cry. If you don't read any other Lori Wick books, I would say read this one.

This is the best book I have ever read! If you are an avid reader, the almost 700 pages will not intimidate you. It is a story that is filled with believable characters told over the span of 10 - 15 years. It is a good book for teens girls and up.

Lori Wick, a favorite author, provides a true "coming to God" story. While the circumstances may be far-fetched - let's all remember, this is fiction. It is a terrific story and well worth the a read. This book has been out for a while but I admit to going back to read it again and again - at least once every year. It refreshes my sometimes stale love of my spirituality.

All the romance between different guys with Mackenzie and Delancy is annoying, and the two charecters can be a bit hard to follow at times. As always though Lori put a great ending on this one, so I don't regret reading it at all, I just thought she could have put a little more effort in this one. I wouldn't reccommend buying this book, but read some of Lori's others; they're awesome!!!

Since reading has always been my hobby, I've read literally hundreds of books. Out of all the books I've read, Lori Wick is my favorite author, followed close by Francine Rivers. I've read almost all of her books, minus about 5 or so, and out of all her books, Pretense is my personal favorite. I don't call myself a huge book expert, but I know I've read more books than most people have in their senior year of high school. Lori Wick captures your heart and takes you away on an unbelievable journey in every one of her books.

True to life character prevade throughout the novel that believers and non-believers can most definatly relate to. If there was ever a novel that could be an eye-opener to the world, it is without a shadow of a doubt, this one!! 5 PLUS IN STARS¿¿¿¿

This is the first book by Lori Wick, but certainly no the last! I was amazed by how well she narrated the lives of these people so honestly and still making the story exciting. Anyone can find something to relate to in this book and it helped me grow more in my faith!

I was given this book by a friend who had read it several times. I finally got time to read it and once I did I was pulled into the words and I grew in my own faith being able to relate with the book. Now whenever I let someone borrow the book I tell them to read it with a box of tissues and leave plenty of time to laugh. By far one of the best books I have ever read!

What I really loved about this book is the reality of it. It shows both girls as they grew not only naturally but spirtually. I also loved the fact that when they gave their lives to Christ, they had to deal with their weaknesses and were able to turn them over to God because they realized that they could not handle them on their own. I loved it and am planning to read more books by her!!
