Dieters have probably already heard their reasoning ad nauseam: improve eating and exercise habits, instead. Here, however, instead of dull, drippy or dated advice accompanied by recipes, a book celebrates eating. You don't have to look like Cindy Crawford to be healthy, but you could make a point of reducing fats, eating healthier foods and making exercise a mainstay of your life. Such strategies practiced over the long term, assert the editors, contribute more to well-being and ideal body weight than the ``miracle'' or ``diet of the week'' (or month) plans people often find themselves following. And though the more than 275 recipes are both low in fat and calories (per serving information is featured), they are anything but boring. Many are classics trimmed of some of their offending ingredients (e.g., sweet-and-sour pork stir-fried in marinade instead of oil) to make them more healthful.
