Then she meets Tom Anderson. Tom is a wereling--a werewolf who retains his humanity even in his wolf form. He was "turned" by Kate's mother, who chose wisely. Tom and Kate can't help falling for each other. But if they give in to their feelings, Kate will become the thing she hates most. Unless they can find a cure. . . .

Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature
Tom, a reluctant werewolf whose humanity keeps him from giving in to his wolf tendencies, and Kate, his friend, find themselves on the run from Kate's werewolf mother in the second book in this trilogy. Searching for a mysterious shaman who may or may not be able to help Tom, the pair travel to New York City and meet up with a group of Hispanic gang members, who themselves are threatened by the increasing presence of marauding werewolves. The youngsters team up with each other and together they interminably battle the werewolves as Tom tries to sort out his feelings toward Kate and a new girl named Jasmine. While the action is fast and furious—and, at times, the characters are worthy of sympathy—the story line in this book is wholly contrived and the violence is both gratuitous and tiring. A small and dedicated audience of gore and monster fans will appreciate this book for its dark, shadowy feel but for most mainstream teen readers, the book fails on many fronts. The characters are so thinly drawn that it is hard to understand their motivation or the conflict they supposedly feel. The other problem is that the reader never really feels a sense of tension. Since this is the second book in a trilogy, the reader can be fairly confident that the two main characters will survive for the third installment, while the other characters are so insignificant that the reader cares little whether they survive or not in the final conflict. In the end, the payoff is smaller than the time invested. 2004, Razor Bill/Penguin Group, Ages 14 up.

This is another bait and switch (bs) author. This book has a good storyline but it's only about 50 pages of reading. The author wants you to pay $3 for subsequent so called books. You'll end up paying $12 for about 150 pages of reading. I'm tired of these bs authors peddling chapters as books and it's time they are put on notice. I will add this author to my bs list and avoid in the future!

Received this book as a free read & was not disappointed. Shifter book that was intriguing, hot & well written considering the short length of it. Story contains one hot alpha shifter, Liam who feels a connection & need to protect Amalie. Amalie is a photographer who becomes a damsel in distress & ends up being shown things she never knew existed. Loved the chemistry between Liam & Amalie. Can't wait to read the next in the series. Would recommend.

This was a very good start to a series, but i hope the rest of her series of books are much longer! I was just getting into the story and boom it was over--very disappointing because it was a good interesting beginning, please make them longer with more character building

This book is great, it makes you want to read more and more until you are done. I highly recommend this book because it made you want to know more about the book and made think that there could be a race of creatures out there that we don't know about. GREAT BOOK!!!
