Overview

Detective Jason Scarsdale, a recent widower, struggles to put his life back together while raising a young daughter. Assigned to investigate two sex-related murders, he teams up with Dani Mueller, a police crime analyst with some deadly secrets of her own.
After navigating his way around the cross-hairs of two crooked police managers, he closes in on the killer. Just when Scarsdale thought things couldn’t get any worse, the killer abducts his daughter and Mueller is kidnapped by someone from her past.

Alan Brenham is the pseudonym for Alan Behr, an author and attorney. He served as a law enforcement officer before earning a law degree and working as a prosecutor and a criminal defense attorney. He has traveled to several countries in Europe, the Middle East, Alaska, and almost every island in the Caribbean. While working with the US Military Forces, he lived in Berlin, Germany. Behr and his wife, Lillian, currently live in the Austin, Texas area.

The chapters told from Dani’s perspective are through her eyes in first person, but the chapters from Jason or anyone else’s POV are in third person. It works very well in Brenham’s favor and makes Dani a very interesting and likable character. I thoroughly enjoyed being inside her head.
