But hers has been a life of peaks and valleys. Abandoned by her parents as a child, she was passed from family member to family member as her mother sank deeper into her drug addiction. Feeling unloved and unwelcomed, Toya fell into the arms of a 15-year-old rising musical star—Dwayne Michael Carter, known these days as the rapper 'Lil Wayne'-- and ended up pregnant at the tender age of 14.

In Priceless Inspiration, Toya takes the reader through the pain of being a teenage mother struggling to raise a child while still a child herself—without the benefit of the guidance of her own mother. Using the words she recorded in the journals she kept as a teen—and the wisdom she has gained in the years since—Toya bares her own struggles, using them to offer young women real and heartfelt understanding and advice about sex, relationships, motherhood and growing up.

    A MUST READ!!!

I loved this book. I believe Toya did a GREAT JOB!!! She gave readers an insightful view into her life and how those experiences helped make her a better person. I think every young girl should read it because it can help them see they are loved and are "priceless". Also to let them know that someone understands what they are going through in their lives.

    its a must read

This book is a very good book for young girls and women to inspire them what to do and what not to do. To avoid making some of the mistakes she made that you won't have to go through or if you did make the same mistakes and you can relate to it and know that you're not alone. I love this book and hope she write another one. I took some of the things she said that touch me and incorporated it in my life.

    Dear diary...

I like Toya and proud that she was able to rise above her circumstances. However, as much as she claims to be over Dream aka Lil Wayne it felt like I was reading her diary and 70% was about her relationship with him. He even wrote the forward. I am glad they can remain friends but really! She does not like being referred too as his "baby mama" then stop mentioning him in every other paragraph. She will never develop her own identity constantly bringing him up. I would have preferred to hear more about her new love and less about wayne. There is nothing inspirational about her and wayne's relationship except when she got the courage to move on. That was the priceless inspiration in the entire book.

    lovely

I'm 34 yrs old, I've been there & done that. I just wanted to support Toya. I would most definitely let my daughters read this book when they get to be teenagers so they'll have certain questions answered that they might not ask me. I admire anyone that can tell their story. Very good book for teenagers & young women

Inspiring, and makes you really think. LOVE!

I thought this was awesome!! Toya really did a good job with this book I felt that is very inspiring to young girls as well as women my age ( mid 20's) the book gives very good advice on how to deal with certain situations as well as a good look into Toya's life. I think the overall lesson is that no matter where you come from and no matter what you have gone through, if you set your mind to it you can be successful in anything.

    Insight

I havent read the book yet as I am in the middle of downloading!lol! I think that just from watching the show you have inspired a lot of people to want to get closer in their families. And if this book is as good as the show or as everyone says it is then I will most definetly be putting this on my daughters nook when she becomes of age. I dont agree with one of the post on here saying that your book would be a negative influence on the young ladies. I believe that if they have been giving the tools to know right from wrong then once they read your book they will get even more insight on different views young adult life. I think from everything I have seen on the show and from what I can read on here I think you are a good person and you just keep doing what you doing. Keep your head up mami #familyisforever.

Extra, Extra Read All About It!
I found it very easy to lose myself in this book. It kept me interested from beginning to end. When done with this book I couldn’t help but to go back and read it all over again. No book has ever had my entire attention. It was as though once I began I didn’t want to stop reading not even to sleep. Opening this book allowed me to feel as thought I was discovering a world that lead to the fascinating yet heart-felt story of Ms. Antonia “Toya” Carter, and her struggle between family, friendships, childhood, parenthood and many other life changing decisions. From chapter 1 the author got straight to the point about. Chapter 3 was where all the details were exposed. My favorite character was the author herself being that this book was indeed about her childhood. I believe her message was to yet young ladies of all ages to know that boys come and go and to NEVER let a boy or any male mislead you into doing things without being caution of the consequences. Therefore, I suggest this book to anyone interested in learning the truth about such a beautiful and successful woman.

    Very motivating book

As I read this book, I felt like I was reading my own life story. I finally felt like I was not the only one to experience difficulties such as these in my life and I also felt very motivated and less afraid to accomplish my own goals. Like Toya used to, I often care too much about what others think is best for me and I frequently doubt my own abilities however; as she stated "the only way to defeat failure is by trying" (POWERFUL). I respect her even more than I had before because I now know her struggle was not as easy as some may assume and I will NEVER refer to her as THE DREAMs ex any more because I realize that she is her own woman.
