Could they begin again?
Zakira loves her man, Malik, more than life itself. His prowess in the bedroom is rivaled only by his talent in the kitchen. The successful restaurant they run is as satisfying as their passionate marriage. But when devastating illness strikes Malik, his stubborn pride becomes their undoing. He leaves her...
Devastated, Zakira dedicates herself to Malik's legacy, the restaurant. But when he returns, fully recovered...and ready to reclaim her and their business, Zakira is stunned. The desire still burns hot between them, but there's anger, too. Now Malik will need more than soul-searing kisses to win her trust and her wounded heart. He will have to make her believe in them...again.
This book is so exciting and at the same time it's like when you are reading it's like you can't put it down because it leaves a mystery in your mind like what will happen next. I would reccomend this book to anybody.

This is the first novel I've read by Ms. Washington, and she really MAKES YOU FEEL and THINK throughout this novel. It is a sweet, passionate, yet often sad love story. Ladies, what could be worse than a proud man?!! How 'bout a married man FULL of pride! A husband that selfishly pushes his wife a way in his time of sickness. Malik and Zakira Badu, are deeply in love and living a good life, until Malik develops a serious health issue. Malik lets pride and his over-protectiveness get in the way of love, trust and his PROMISED marriage vows and leaves Zakira to her deal with everything on her own. Malik comes back into her life after his recovery. However is it too late to rebuild their marriage and will she ever be able to trust him again?!!! At his surprise return all kinds drama jumps off not only for Zakira and Malik, but their good friends unfortunately get caught in the crossfire of Maliks unexpected homecoming.~~~~~~~Which brings us to the secondary romance in this novel between Trekel and Edwina. They are extremely attacted to one another, yet their relationship comes to an abrupt halt due to Eddie's insecurities and Tree's involement in helping Malik pull off his 'idiotic' plan to leave his wife. Can both these couples get pass these issues to regain the love they felt for one another.~~~~~~~This story took me on a emotional rollercoaster ride. It made me angry, so sad, that I had to grab the Kleenex, yet it also made me LOL, too. You will get caught up in all the drama as these couples struggle through their issues in the hopes of recapturing their 'happily-ever-after' and discovering and holding on to what is TRULY important in their lives. Definitely an intense read. Good job, Ms. Washington!

Ms. Washington just keeps outdoing herself as each book just gets better. In Pride and Consequence, you have not just one passionate story but two. First you have Malik and Zakira, deeply in love and on their way to happy ever after when Malik falls victim to an illness. Malik lets pride and his protectiveness get in the way of love and common sense and leaves Zakira on her own to deal with everything. Realizing what matters most, he comes back into her life after his recovery. The sparks start to fly. Second you have Trekel and Eddie friend and family of Malik and Zakira. They find each other because of the relationships to Malik and Zakira, then lose and find each other again. Both of these stories make you mad, sad, laugh and most of all make you feel as you watch them all wade through their emotions and finally figure out what¿s important in life. This book should be on every ones best seller list, it is certainly on mine and 5 stars go to Ms. Washington

A man's pride is something else. Altonya give us a good look into pride and consequence. Malik is a good looking and loving husband who love his woman so GOOD you can't help but fall in love with him yourself. I tell you reader I had wanted to not like Malik, but once you get into the book and realize what he is going through you will be pulling for him. Now Zakira is a woman after my own HEART, she love her husband unconditional and when she took her VOWS she meant them. I don't want to give to much of the book away but once you start reading this book you will not be able to put it down until the end. Altonya did a GREAT & OUTSTANDING job with this book. His prowess in the bedroom is rivaled only by his talent in the kitchen. Louise
