Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice, set in early nineteenth century England, follows twenty year old Elizabeth Bennet and her four sisters as her parents try to get them all married as soon as possible - for strictly social and economic reasons. Things get more complicated when her older sister Jane falls in love with Mr. Bingley, a much richer new neighbor, and Elizabeth herself falls for Bingley’s friend, the equally rich Mr. Darcy. Despite being over two centuries old, Austen’s characters and the relationships they form are still as authentic and incredibly relatable as they were when this well-known and loved classic was first published. What girl around Elizabeth’s age doesn’t have a family she thinks is totally embarrassing or a guy like Mr. Darcy in her life? With Austen’s subtly sarcastic, irony-filled writing style and exploration of universally important themes like love, marriage, family, wealth, and social status, it’s no surprise that Pride and Prejudice has been read and thoroughly enjoyed for generations and continues to be relevant today.

I have recently taken up reading again but have never forgot about Pride & Prejudice. To this day, it is still my favorite book. Very rarely do I become so drawn into a book that I can "see" the characters, the setting, the conversations. This book did that for me. It was an amazing experience that I have yet to find in any other book.
