    Defines edge-of-your-seat entertainment!

My first impression of "Primal Thirst" was that it was a dark and gory horror novel about supernatural creatures in the depths of a jungle. I personally am not a fan of books about the supernatural, but I decided to expand my reading selections outside of my usual thriller/suspense and give this one a shot.

I was not disappointed. After reading the first three chapters, I could not put it down. The novel quickly engaged me with the characters and made me feel I was part of their team. The end of each chapter was a cliff hanger. Holloway has a gift for keeping the reader hooked and making them unable to put the book down.

His writing is clear and concise; his storyline intricate but carefully constructed and composed. This book truly made me happy I stepped outside of my usual reading boundaries and tried something new. I look forward to more books by this author!

    A Fantastic Debut!

I admit some trepidation when I opened up Primal Thirst. I was expecting a rip off of Indiana Jones but I was wrong. Mr. Holloway has taken the adventure story and added a whole new twist. He weaves nonstop action with humor and dry wit, and combines a helping of the bizarre without losing believability. The underlying dark currents of the plot promise more surprises in future sequels.

    A Can't-Miss Thrill Ride

When Dr. Obadiah "Jack" Jackson travels to Malaysia on a rescue mission to save a beautiful missionary and her village, he soon finds himself in way over his head. Over the course of his various hunting exploits, Jack has grown accustomed to dealing with a host of dangerous creatures - but nothing could prepare him for the ghoulish, blood-feeding jenglots threatening to destroy everything in their insatiable path. As much of a challenge as the jenglots pose, though, little does Jack know - the sinister creatures of legend will ultimately prove to be the least of his worries...

Witty, suspenseful, and action-packed, Primal Thirst is a riveting, edge-of-your seat mystery thriller. In Book I of the Enigma Directive series, author J. Kent Holloway introduces readers to the irrepressible "Jack" Jackson, a wise-cracking cryptozoologist with a thirst for adventure and a knack for getting himself in much deeper than he can handle. A highly likeable figure, Jack is sure to capture the hearts of minds of readers of all ages as he leads them on a thrilling vicarious adventure rife with intrigue and vivid, imaginative people and places. By the time the final page is turned, the only disappointment that readers are apt to feel will be the let down in having to wait for Book II of what promises to be an exciting new action/adventure series.

With compelling characters and well developed plotlines, Primal Thirst is a can't-miss thrill ride from a strong, entertaining new literary voice. Strongly recommended.

Some people actively avoid books written in the first person. Those folks are missing out if they skip this book. Primal Thirst is written from this point of view and it's a stronger adventure for it. It helps capture the dry sense of humor of the protagonist and it paints the transpiring events with great color and flare.

Additionally, Primal Thirst was a rip-roaring tale of adventure but, more than that, it was a well-crafted, fun thriller. This is a classic Indiana Jones or Tomb Raider type tale with a bit of the X-Files mixed in for good measure. In short, this book was a heck of a lot of fun to read and one that I will readily recommend to anyone looking for a fund adventure novel.
