Budding psychic Mica is a walking miracle. After surviving a brutal attack, she vows to live each day to the fullest. Little does she know her life is no longer hers to control. When Tall, Dark, and Annoying shows up to shadow her, she’s intrigued.

Powerful and ruthless, Sean’s assigned to guard more than Mica’s body. Her future is at stake, and it’s his job to keep her on the right path. There are plans for her. Plans that’ll change everything she believes if she lives long enough to learn the truth. Guarding one human shouldn’t be this complicated, but Mica makes it anything but easy.

As the clock ticks, Sean pulls Mica deeper into the Primani world until there’s no way out, and she doesn’t want to leave.

Note from the author: Primani was my first book and although I loved it dearly, it wasn't my best work. Rather than let Mica and the guys hang about in mediocrity, I completely revised the original book to make it as bright and shiny as the rest of the series. My amazing editor has scrubbed it for lingering errors and polished the pacing. The updated eBook is available as of 30 June 2015.

Meet the Author

Laurie Olerich is the author of a new paranormal romance series called Primani. Part romance, part paranormal, part adventure...Three things she can’t live without! Laurie spent most of her life in the Northeastern United States and in Western Europe. She now lives in San Antonio, Texas, with her son Taylor and Dalmatian duo, Domino and Rambo. Desperate to escape the heat, she lives vicariously through Mica and her Primani by setting their adventures in the mountain coolness of New England and the rainy days of London. Before throwing caution to the wind and diving into a writing career, Laurie dedicated 20 years to her country by serving in the United States Air Force. Much of her time was spent around men with guns and cool toys...this explains her obsession with both.

Mica's mother has died and she has to leave the place she has lived all her life and move to her father's home with his second family. She is not happy about it. Being rescued after being attacked by a boy from school, Mica's life changes. Who are these protectors? Why is she changing after being around these men? I loved this book. It's the first of a series. Something is happening to Mica and she is gaining these abilities but her protectors (Sean, Declan, and Killian) do not know why. When she discovers that evil walks this earth and these men stand between it and humans, she wants to help especially since it seems her powers make her strong as well as these men when they are with her. I love Mica, Sean, Declan, and Killian. I don't know what they are, only that they are the good guys. I like Mica's friends and family. Scott, her attacker, was a believable villain. He is creepy and malicious along with his friends. They are also dumb and do not learn quickly. I'm looking forward to when they do learn their lesson. I also look forward to reading the rest of this series. Questions need to answered.

Great book and series! Ms. Olerich is an excellent storyteller, holding your interest in the characters and their stories from beginning to end. I can't wait for book four.

Primani follows Mica, a strong female lead, starting when her life is dramatically altered by a vicious physical attack. It was this event that begins to spiral her life in the downward direction. It is in this spiral that she is introduced to Sean. He will send her life in another direction that will sure to leave you wondering what the bigger picture is. I did enjoy this book. Laurie Olerich has built a great team of characters. The story will draw you in with drama, action, romance and heartache. I am looking forward to book 2. This book was given to me by the author for an honest review.

I was given a complimentary copy for an honest review by author Laurie Olerich. This is book 1 of the Primani series by the author. Sean O'Cahan had 1 job to do and that was to try and keep Mica Thomas safe from others and mostly from herself. Who knew that would be a 24/7 job for him. Mica Thomas seems to get into trouble, a lot and when the sexy Sean comes to her rescue Mica wants more from him. This has all of the elements you want from a story. Drama, romance, danger and revenge.

I had a hard time deciding how to rate Primani but ended up going with 3 Stars. I was initially drawn to it because of its premise. But it had a really slow start and was rather uneven. However, I did end up enjoying the story and I will read the next in the series if only to see if the rhythm Olerich attained by the end continues. Because I liked the direction she decided to take, eventually, I can overlook some of my issues. Here is what I liked and didn't like: Pros -Fresh spin on angels and demons  -I was fully invested in characters by the end -Once the direction became clear, the story was exciting and suspenseful -Well-choreographed action scenes -Vivid descriptions of settings and locales Cons -More telling than showing in several parts of the story -Uneven - it seemed like Olerich couldn't decide how she wanted her characters to be perceived (for example, in one scene Mica is feeling nervous about what is about to happen one minute and the next, she's thinking she looks pretty badass in her combat outfit) -Pacing was off - for part of the story, it was like Olerich didn't know which way the story was going to go but once it was clear, the story really tightened up

Another new author for me. Good reading and different from what I usually read. I will be looking to get more of the series.

I received this book from Reading Alley in return for a fair and honest review. However, I have since found out that I also purchased this book from Amazon in October 2014 and just hadn't gotten around to reading it. This is actually a hard review for me to write because there were bits of it that really worked for me, and other bits that did nothing. So please bare with me if this becomes jumbled! OK, so for a start, we have Mica. She's a young girl that survived a brutal assault that I 'think' was worse than you first imagine. I 'think' she had some healing help from Dec before arriving at the hospital but it's quite unclear. She becomes an adrenaline junkie as she tries to prove that she is still alive, still has 'it'. Along comes Sean, who has been assigned to protect her because she's important but you have no idea why. The relationship between them is very hot and cold and lacked something for me. I know that he is supposed to literally be part of her soul but I just didn't feel the connection between them. The one thing that I also found quite difficult to understand is just what was so appealing about Mica? What was it that seemed to draw every male to her like bees around a honey pot? This book is very choppy and disjointed. To be fair, a simple formatting would solve most of the problems just by making it clear when one scene finishes and the next time jump is about to start. In parts, this book flies by and it is completely enthralling. In other places, it drags and the story seems to be almost grinding to a halt. This was a different read, an interesting read that I am glad that I have read. At this moment, I'm not entirely sure I'll be continuing with the series though.
