Overview

America’s most elite soldiers are about to uncover one of history’s deadliest secrets....

When a raid on an insurgent safehouse leads to a clue to decoding one of the world’s greatest mysteries, the Voynich manuscript, which reveals a recipe for creating the ultimate biological weapon of mass destruction, Delta operator Jack Sigler must forge a new black ops team to avert catastrophe. While bullets fly, he recruits a group of deadly warriors with dangerous secrets, assigning each member a chess piece callsign and dubbing them Chess Team.

But nothing is what it seems…and no one can be trusted. As the search for the truth about the manuscript moves across Asia and into the darkest reaches of human history, Chess Team must battle enemies beyond comprehension—nightmare creatures of myth and perverse creations of science—to preserve a secret as old as life itself.

In 2009, bestselling novelist Jeremy Robinson launched the adventures of Jack Sigler and Chess Team. Now, learn how it all began in this full length novel! Witness Chess Team’s beginning as King, Queen, Bishop, Rook, Knight and the elusive Deep Blue come together to form the only military force smart enough and dangerous enough to face the world’s most deadly, most high tech and most monstrous threats.

    GREAT PREQUEL

Jeremy Robinson pulls off this prequel to the Chess Team novels flawlessly. It was interesting to discover how each team member became involved. Fast paced and as usual, very entertaining. Thank you Mr. Robinson for another great book!

    Good

Not as good as the Kaiji Series or Second World Series but still good. I would probably give it 4 stars and call it great if it was from any other author, but I have come to expect exceptional from Robinson and this just wasn't quite there. The plot seemed secondary to the action. We all love action in a Robinson book but we also want character development via an interesting storyline. There was too little interaction among characters when not in the midst of some sort of battle. Since this prequel was actually written mid-series, I have a feeling the the character development may have happened in previously written books. I plan to find out. Stephanie Clanahan

    In the beginning…….

This the story of the formation of the Chess Team. This prequel shows where each member of the team came from and how the team members first meet each other.

In this story, a Delta team finds a portion of an ancient manuscript code when they raid a terrorist safe house. This code from the Voynich Manuscript, is a code that has never been broken. The fear is that the terrorists can break the code and will use the manuscript to create a biological weapon. A race is on to stop the terrorists from finding the manuscript first and then stopping the terrorists. A specialist is brought in to break the code. The new team comes together as they follow clues to find Prime. Supposedly the place where life started and where one can create life from nothing using the information in the manuscript. On the way, they run into some very strange creatures and travel to Asia and France.  They just barely save the world from total destruction.

This prequel is an action packed adventure that leaves little time for breathing (and sleep as you won’t want to put the book down). Jeremy Robinson does a very good job keeping the characters within the personalities we know from the Chess Team novellas. If you love Rollins, Woods, Lincoln, Child, this action, adventure, weird creatures, end of the world stories, you will thoroughly enjoy this one.

Jeremy Robinson's Chess Team begins here! This book delivered a good, fast-paced story-action/intrigue laden, with a good splash of sci-fi. You will be drawn to read the rest of the books, but it's an acceptable "curse"! DO IT! DO IT NOW!

In Book Zero (prequel) of the Chess Team saga Jeremy gives us what we all have been asking for, "How did Sigler & company get together?" Well, this is how. Through an array of missions & locations we see how each member is originally "recruited" to the team. We also see where the ruthless Richard Ridley comes from too.

If you love the Chess Team adventures then this novel is for you!
