Prince Charming is a wonderful and beautiful tale of the son of the great King Lazar, Prince Rafael. And the secret Masked Rider, Lady Daniela. After being tricked in to marriage, Rafe and Dani soon learn each other's weaknesses and learn to over come them. Rafe, who is still heartbroken over being betrayed to be Julia(Princess) must learn to love again, if he wants his marriage to Dani to work out. Dani, who's mother died during child birth, must over coem the fear of bearing a child to her prince. If you liked Lazar and Dariuse. Then you will love Rafael, he is sweet and such a charmer, he doesnt have a cruel bone in his body. A wonder mix of Lazar and Allergra. He only want't what is best, even when he try's to be cruel to Dani, he apoligies less then 1 min later. If you like Allergra and Serafina, then you will love Daniela. She is so strong and smart and sweet. She only want's what is best for the kingdom. A traite showen by the lovly Allergra during The Pirate Prince. Even thought the Love scene's come late, they are well worth it. It was much more Love then Lust during them. Even thought he is scared, Rafe still show's even early that he only want's the best for Dani. Gaelen Foley out did herself writing this book. One of the best i have ever read. Hopfully she will write the love story about young Leo, Rafe and Sera's little brother soon.

Stop the presses ladies and gentlemen, because this book right here has to be the best Romance novel ever written. No amount of adjectives could describe this book in the correct way. Rafael and Daniella are the BEST main characters and it is so easy to identify with them. Finally a strong, smart, and beautiful heroine. The male lead is great as well, as all the ladies soon fall in love with the ideal of Rafael. Of course every good story needs a villain and you will definitely want to kill Orlando by yourself. This is by far the best book out of the entire Ascension Trilogy (please not that in order to understand all of the innuendoes and inside jokes that you MUST READ Pirate Prince and Princess as well). If you want a tale filled action, adventure, comedy, drama, and romance, then this is the book for you! Just make sure that you have a lot of time on your hands or you won't get a lot of stuff done. This is a book that you will read over and over and still be surprised in the end!

Report this reviewThank you, this review has been flagged.I read the trilogy by other and thought that none of the following books could top the chemistry that Lazar and Allegra shared. Princess was a great book and I love Darius as a whole, but I was a little skeptical when I read some of the mixed reviews for this book (Prince Charming) and from the beginning I can say I LOVED RAFAEL AND DANI as a couple more than I loved Lazar and Allegra or Darius and Serafina.
From what I read from the reviews, people liked Dani but despised Rafe because he was "spoiled and weak" and I disagree completely. I think that people had a lot of high spectators because of the physical and mental strength that Lazar and Darius shared, and if you have read the books you know that the reason why they are so strong is because of the horrible events that happened while they were very young. I think people thought Rafael was going to be an exact copy of his father but he is the complete opposite, therefore his nickname given by the kingdom: Rafe the Rake.
Rafael was born when Lazar was already a king, he did not experience the hardships Lazar and Darius experienced so of course his struggles would be completely different than those of his father and his brother-in-law. If you read the book you will understand the strength of this character and you will love the hate-and-then-love relationship Rafe and Dani shared.
Rafael does not trust women because of an incident that happened in the final chapters of Princess, and Dani does not trust him because of his reputation as a womanizer and spoiled prince. Daniela is a 21 year old countess who lives in poverty but is set to do whatever it takes to sustain her people. Because of this she embarks herself in a journey as The Masked Rider, which is seen by the kingdom as a criminal but it's seen by the people as the Robin Hood that comes to the rescue. This is how she gets to meet Rafe, although he does not know her identity until later on. She robs him while he is in his way to the palace and without her consent, this leads to a set of events that will soon make her Rafe's other half.
Rafael is sensible, funny, beautiful, positive and has a good heart, (even when his people do not see it at first), and loves women this is why he calls himself the lover. While Daniela is described as a strong hearted tomboy, she is free to make her own decision and run her own life while Rafe is in caged controlled by the king and the expectations the kingdom has for his future actions. Dani is awarded the name the fighter. And when the lover and fighter collide there is an explotion of emotions, passion, romance, trust and mistrust at the same time, pain, insecurities, rage, that in the end lead to one of the most passionate, delicate and beautiful love story that characterizes this book.
It took me a good month to finish this book. I usually love Foley's books but this one was terrible. I'm only giving it three stars because Foley is a master writer (even though I hated the plot and characters of this particular book.)
Rafe the hero was such a loser. Sure, we all love the tough-on-the-outside but vulnerable-on-the-inside hero. But Rafe was all weakness with no strength! Okay, he was athletic and good looking (as Foley continuously pointed out) but he had no strength of character or brains or self confidence or maturity. He was so arrogant and disrespectful of women. He's the worst hero I've read in a long time.
I laughed at the end when Orlando had out-maneuvered him politically. Rafe was on trial and Rafe's wife Dani dons her Masked Rider outfit to go save him! What?! And when Rafe's friend committed suicide and Rafe went over and bawled over his body .what a wimp! What hero cries like a baby?! And when Rafe finally did get the backbone to have sex with Dani, she thought he'd just come from his mistress's bed. Yuck!!
But I really liked the evil Orlando a lot. He was cruel and manipulative, but at least he was strong and smart!
I just hated so many of the situations and misunderstandings. I'm trying not to give away too much information and ruin the story but ladies, really, if you love the alpha males, skip this book.

I am a fairly new fan of Foley's, and I absolutely LOVED the other books I have read of hers, but this one didn't live up to my expectations. I thought Rafe was pretty spoiled and immature and not very manly. The first 100 pages of this book grabbed me, but the next 200 pages bored me to tears. I was back into it by the last 100 pages. It bugged me how Dani's sick and ailing grandfather was pretty much out of the story after they got married. Why didn't he come to live with them??? It was strange. I also didn't much appreciate how Rafe very nearly gave into him mistress when he wasn't getting any from Dani. Over all this book lacked consistency and sense, and I never fell in love with the hero. I will definitely be reading all of Foley's books based on the excellence I have seen in her work, but this one will not be making the keeper shelf.

I went into a used bookstore, and found my first copy of this book. I read almost the whole thing in one day and really loved it. I have no problems with the traditional romance, or 'Bodice Ripper'. But Prince Charming really is something spectacular! It's a dignified romance, tasteful. It gives the reader all the suduction they can handle, but is still about the story, not just the sex. Wonderful!

This story is great. I loved it. I stayed up late last night just so I could finish it. I loved Dani and Rafe's relationship. Some of my fav scenes are the boat scene, and when she showe him she could ride a horse standing, and him telling her he loved her. I did feel sorry for adriano though. Do yourself a favor and pick up this book you will not be disappointed.

This is the first book by Gaelen Foley that I bought via B & N. She appeared to get good reader reviews and had quite a few books to choose from. I started with ¿Prince Charming¿ but¿I should have begun with ¿The Pirate Prince¿ and moved to ¿The Princess¿ as they are the first two books in this series and it ends with the one I started with! Oh well. This was over-all an enjoyable novel. As the title says, expect no surprises in the story line. Handsome perfect spoiled Prince meets his match in a poor yet feisty and beautiful local girl. Prince Rafe was all that girls dream of and likewise due to this¿he is spoiled, a little immature and not used to denying any desire he wants. Daniela came from good blood lines but, over the years her family fell to the way side, she lost her mother and they had financial hardships. Fortunately, this struggle helped her to become more sound, wise and wordly. She is a masked rider robbing from the rich and giving to the poor when she meets the prince. I enjoyed the early part of the story the best (her robbing his coach, his shooting her, she gets away and goes under cover, they meet at her grandfathers and attraction blooms..). Their early interaction and battles of the will was fun. I did think they met and fell head over heals for one another fairly quickly ¿ I like when authors drag out the initial courtship, attraction and intimacy scenes longer. The middle part of the book was a bit dull as he got what he wanted in marrying her and bedding her for an heir and she seemed to cave in and be a bit meek once love was declared. I missed their sparing at this point. The end picked up again with action over who in the royal court was trying to harm Prince Rafe and Princess Daniela and who they could trust and who they couldn¿t (Orlando, The Prime Minister, even one another). Some scenes were warm and touching when they truly focused on each other (such as the boat ride in the lake). Some scenes were irritating (when Daniela was brought to the castle to marry him the first time and suddenly her sick and important grand father is practically forgotten, when Rafe seeks out the attention of his previous mistress when Daniela won¿t give in, Rafe constantly not believing in Daniela due to a bad love in his past, etc.) I would have liked to see the characters develop more depth further into the book but, they all redeemed themselves by the end of the story. I guess some of the going back and forth, and constant questioning of loyalty and love was due to them meeting so fast and getting together when they really had little chance to really know one another. This was not a deep story nor was it intense and super passionate but, it hit many notes in the right places. I can¿t help but, give the book good marks over-all as there were enough warm, tender and thoughtful passages to over-ride the few dull or underdeveloped parts. I¿ll look forward to her other books.

I haven't read the first book, The Pirate Prince, yet, but I did read Princess and Prince Charming. They were both good, but Prince Charming was wonderful! The main characters were very likable, the villain very despicable, and the plot very exciting. It was very hard to put down, and let me say this . . . after I read Princess, I immediately ordered Prince Charming, and after reading Prince Charming, I absolutely HAD to read Pirate Prince (which I've just ordered). The only bad thing about Foley's books is that they are hard to find at the bookstores! Very good work!

This book was one of the greatest books I've ever read! It had romance, laughter, and action that made it facinating and hard to put down. Gaelen Foley is a great author, and besides 'Princess', 'The Pirate Prince', and 'Prince Charming' I hope she writes many more exciting novels. I personaly loved this book. Out of the three she has written this is my favorite. I hope others read the book and enjoy it as much as I have. DON'T JUST SIT THERE READ THIS BOOK!!!!

This is a cute and humorous story with enough of the 'dark side' to make an interesting plot. Gaelen Foley's writing reminds me of the playfullness of Julie Garwood's heroines, with a more realistic male lead. I like to read romances, but very few do I recommend. This is one I would enjoy reading again.
