    The definitive Prince book

Few have attained the fame, the worldwide acclaim, or deserved it as much as the near mythical and enigmatic Prince. Draper's book gives a comprehensive and insightful look into this rock legend's world and his dealings with ours ¿ a must buy for any fan.

    Good gift.

My friend gave me this for Christmas, and I began reading it immediately. I was completely drawn in. The average Prince fan who's been around since the beginning (like my mother) probably knows a lot of the information, but Draper describes the life and times of Prince in great detail. I personally found out things that I didn't know, and I have to admit, there were a few moments where I just felt like "Omg, I can't believe he did that!" or "Ugh! What was wrong with him?!" but nevertheless, the choices he made are what makes him the man he is today. My only problem was the repeating of certain things, like the author's constant use of the word "sacked" (as oppose to "fired" or "laid-off"). I thought to myself "If I see the word "sacked" one more time I'm gonna go off!" And the book is seperated into 5 Chapters--the Chapters are separated into sections that are titled by Albums (i.e. you have "Chapter X" that is separated by "Purple Rain(1984-1985)", Parade (1986-1987), etc.). Some of the information in the sections have already been mentioned one or two times in previous sections and annoyed me very much. But all in all, I gave this book 4 out of 5 stars. It's definitely a must-read for any Prince fan or music fan.

This book is a Must Have

This book is a must have for Prince fans. I love how is has a blend of what was going on in Prince's personal and professional life. We also get a chance to hear from the some of Prince's band members who were in the mix at the time the various albums were created.

    Young Prince lover

I love Prince's music and purchased this book for a great discounted price. I wanted something like this for a while. I think it's a good coffee table book that tells a little bit about my musical interests and personality. Is it a bit gossipy? Possibly, but I enjoy it nontheless. I think it could be very good for those who enjoy Princes's earlier music but may be a bit young to remember the 80s in its fullness.

true Prince fans will love it.

I am a longtime fan of Prince. This book was great for chronicling his career. It give insight to his very private world, glimpses of his genius, and his ability to be cutiing edge, even if not always understood or was marketable. Having attended Prince concerts through the years, this book was exciting; it was a great medium for me to relive those ocassions. Love the ovesized feature...it's the only way to appreciate the pictures....
