About the Author
John C. (Chris) Orndorff is a retired Air Force Officer and author of Prince Michael and the Dragon as well as numerous published articles on Biblical subjects, military history, future studies and leadership.
Chris graduated from Western Kentucky University in Bowling Green, Kentucky, with a BA in Religion and an MA in Humanities
Immediately following completion of graduate school in 1979 Chris was commissioned in the Air Force through Officers’ Training School. In his Air Force career he served in Florida, Japan, Colorado, Alabama, and Washington DC, as well as numerous temporary duties throughout the United States, Europe and the Pacific. During the course of these assignments he worked as a squadron commander, protocol officer, executive officer, special agent, detachment commander, instructor at Squadron Officer School and Air Command and Staff College, and in his last position as Chief of Requirements for the Air Force Office of Special Investigations. He retired in the grade of Lieutenant Colonel.
Chris has written extensively on a wide variety of subjects. In the Officers Christian Fellowship magazine Command, he has published such articles as "Hallmarks of David’s Mighty Men." He has also written for the Air Power Journal, "Lessons from the Kriegsakademie," TIG Brief, "The Invisible Sentinels," Global Reliance, "Preparing for the Year 2000," Proceedings of the Air Force Quality Symposium, "The Danger of Paradigms in Military Thinking," and various newsletters and articles for school curriculum. His first published book Prince Michael and the Dragon, written following the death of his youngest son, is an epic fantasy written for young readers and persons grieving the loss of a loved one. He has three forthcoming books soon to be released: Prince John’s Quest, Princess Mary and the Prophet, and How Have the Mighty Fallen.
Chris is married to the former Debora Morris of Evansville, IN. They have four children and two grandchildren, John, Jr. and his wife Jennifer, Michael, Lionel (who is with the Lord), Mary, Tristan, and Brandon.
For those who loved C.S. Lewis' Chronicles of Narnia, Prince Michael and the Dragon is a long awaited treat that is sure to please. While grieving the loss of his youngest son Lionel, Michael's Dad began making up adventurous bedtime stories for his two remaining sons, Michael and John. What began as a simple story for two young boys, soon grew into one of the most unique therapy sessions a parent ever attended. As he deals with the family's ordeal in the make believe Kingdom of El, Michael's dad creatively deals with the pain of losing a loved one and the hope of eternal reunion. This story is both charming and entertaining. From Michael's exploits in finding and slaying the great dragon to his family's efforts to defend their threatened kingdom, this story will inspire and encourage readers. Not only is this an ideal book for young readers, parents and adults will also enjoy this original work.
