Poor Princess Baby. It’s bedtime, but she isn’t sleepy in this adorable follow-up to the first Princess Baby book. After all, there is so much a princess baby needs to do. PJs need to be put on, toys need to be put away, the perfect book needs to be chosen, and her beloved subjects need to brush their teeth! It’s a very busy time in Princess Baby’s room. Young readers will want to climb into their own beds when our pint-sized heroine finally pulls up the covers and goes “night-night.”
PreS-K
In this successor to Princess Baby (Random, 2008), the feisty, independent-minded heroine is asked various questions during her preparations for bedtime. "Princess Baby, did you pick up all your toys?" "Yes, I picked them up," she responds, and is shown cuddling all of her stuffed animals at once. Although Princess Baby protests that she is not tired, a satisfying conclusion shows her asleep on the floor after reading books to her stuffed animals and tucking them in. As in the earlier title, fuchsia and other rosy tones dominate the illustrations. Purchase if the first book has a following.-Blair Christolon, Prince William Public Library System, Manassas, VA

This book is an excellent example of Karen Katz's endearing stories. I have almost all of her books, but Princess Baby Night-Night is THE book that I read to my 21 month old daughter every night, even if we indulge her with other stories. Its become part of our bedtime routine...

Report this reviewThank you, this review has been flagged.I started buying my niece these books shortly after she was a year old beginning with Counting Kisses by Karen Katz. With her love of princesses, she absolutely loved the first book, Princess Baby. This book is a sequel to that one, and just as enchanting.
Princess Baby, Night-Night, is a story about the Princess Baby getting ready for bed, as she brushes her teeth and her dolls and stuffed animals' teeth, cleans up her toys, etc..For those of us without children, this is complete explanation of why it takes so long to put one's children to bed.
I would definitely recommend this book!
My little girl is convinced she is a princess, and while I didn't like the original book as much because she seemed whiny, this one is cute. Each page the mother or father (it's not identified as I remember) asks the little girl if she's doing one of the steps for going to bed, and each step she says yes because she's helping her toys get ready for bed. It's very cute and we had lots of fun reading and talking about it.
