Overview

The book you are now reading is a clarion call to return to the
Lordship of Jesus Christ and to join Him in building the Church He
started on the day of Pentecost when He sent the promise of His Holy
Spirit. - Preface

God’s ways are not man’s ways. God is doing a new thing across the
world. Traditional models of Church are older wineskins that are
bursting as God is pouring out new wine in the movement of His Holy
Spirit. House Church planting movements are occurring all over the
world it is estimated there are millions of new house Churches started
in just the last 30-40 years. Countries such as China where
Christianity was being extinguished are now experiencing such a great
revival that some estimate the Church currently to be at over 100
million believers. Hallelujah!

With over 30,000 registered denominations world-wide, the true members
of the body of Christ are scattered abroad and divided into many
different groups, in many cases over nonessential doctrines. We are in
need of unified fellowships of brothers and sisters to meet under
Christ’s Lordship. Learn Principles of how to gather as believers from
the Book of Acts and Underground Churches in China, Iran and North
Korea. Prepare to be challenged by the commitment of these believers.

Read this amazing book. I did not agree with the part that the day on which one worships does not matter, but the rest of this book is anointed. It drew me nearer to Christ.

There are a myriad of voices among the congregation today concerning the direction of the western Church and the steps needed to rebuild it based on the foundations Christ and his apostles pioneered. The book, PRINCIPLES FOR THE GATHERING OF BELIEVERS UNDER THE HEADSHIP OF JESUS CHRIST, offers a fresh perspective on this volatile subject along with some of the most sound, achievable and sustainable solutions available to the congregation today. The insight shared in PRINCIPLES FOR THE GATHERING OF BELIEVERS UNDER THE HEADSHIP OF JESUS CHRIST is far from common. The authors, who form a small collective of believers called Gospel Fellowships, boldly and accurately confront the state of the Church today with an authority and message similar those delivered to the seven churches in Revelations. They strongly remind believers that the western congregation is ill-prepared for coming persecution, and is presently not experiencing the level of revival and harvest that is taking place in the east. The authors stress that when presenting the western church in light of the mission and vision of the apostles in the Book of Acts, there is absolutely no comparison and that this type of “church” is ineffective because it is built by men. In fact, the wide-scale view of the congregation is more akin to the pop culture of Babylon than the dominion of our God. Personally, I found this assessment confirming. In setting a strong foundation for the principles outlined in the book, the authors began with a profound burden and cry for humility among the people of God. This level of surrender, in turn, would cause the church to embrace the first foundational principle which is to “look solely to Jesus” for absolutely everything concerning one’s faith. By doing this, no expectation is placed on men. In fact, the authors state, when this becomes a truth in the lives of believers then congregations will continue to thrive even when men fall. In light of this, the second principle was equally impactful as it painted an accurate picture of what “church” looks like in the eyes of God – and it isn’t a building. This book, PRINCIPLES FOR THE GATHERING OF BELIEVERS UNDER THE HEADSHIP OF JESUS CHRIST, introduces readers to the purpose of the church and the roles they play in the building it by closely examining 60 principles from scripture. It is obvious that the authors have taken painstaking efforts to outline the basic, most fundamental aspects of what makes the “church the church” and believers sons of God. While problems are briefly identified, the majority of the book is edifying, encouraging and corrective in the midst of the message. In addition, the compassion and love of Christ is revealed within every page. The principles are outlined with such precision that believers on any level in the faith can take what they have learned and study it out individually or corporately with others. In fact, the authors recommend this. It is a deeply spiritual book that speaks from the very heart of Christ, yet it carries the simplicity of a child and the clarity of a scholar. PRINCIPLES FOR THE GATHERING OF BELIEVERS UNDER THE HEADSHIP OF JESUS CHRIST fully lives up to its name, and should be on the library shelves of every believer with a heart for evangelism and discipleship.
