Overview

Living in north Florida, he never had good parents. His best friend is put in jail and his first and only love, Mary, dies mysteriously. At the age of seventeen, he runs away to New York City where he moves into a slummy hotel room. He finds himself falling into darkness, drug addiction, and alcoholism. Along his dark journey, he meets all sorts of colorful characters. Through his darkness, he is given strange messages through music, television, billboards, and people, as if someone or something is talking to him from another realm. A dead girl who died in his room from an overdose haunts him and tries to save him. He lives a short time on the streets, and his life changes when he meets a rich, sweet girl who loves him for who he is. As he finally climbs his way out of drug addiction and darkness and finds God, his new love is the one who inspires him to return to his hometown and find out how his first love really died. This is where he finds many answers to the questions he asked himself in his darkness.

This book catches your attention when you first begin reading it! I couldn't put the book down until I got to the end. It really tells a true story about how life can really be in darkness and how we too can overcome darkness. Jason Scott Czyz has a very unique voice and speaks his dialog perferctly! I highly recomend Prisoners of Darkness to anyone looking for hope in life!
