Overview

Investigator Sam Dyke has never met his son, Daniel. Until today. And now he wishes he hadn't. Because Daniel has a girlfriend who isn't really suitable ... and, it turns out, is missing. In fact she's mixed up in a world of corruption and violence centering around the Ginger Twins - monstrous criminals who extend their crooked web from Liverpool to Manchester and all stops in between. Sam is determined to find the girl despite the odds against him - and also ignoring the fact that he's intruding on some apparently hush-hush police work ... Trying to do the right thing, Sam does what he's good at. He irritates people, especially bad guys. And not surprisingly he soon finds himself on the Twins' hit list. What can a father do - except hit back? The Private Lie pits tough private investigator Sam Dyke against a double-threat - the Ginger Twins, and his own inability to know what's good for him.

Editorial Reviews

Amazon.com - S.R. Koogler
Not your usual combination. Most English mysteries I've read have been police procedurals, though Miss Marple was a (soft-boiled) deviation from that rule. Keith Dixon's protagonist, Sam Dyke, is an emphatic exception. Dixon grabs your attention immediately with an opening chapter designed to make you sit up and take notice, and the rest of the book makes sure that attention doesn't wander. Carefully drawn characters and an engrossing plot move things along briskly.
Amazon.com - Kathryn Burkett
What do you think about a book that has twin villains, one of whom snips off fingers? Well, I thought it was a great read for the fact that the reader simply doesn't know what will happen next. The main characters in this second book of the Sam Dyke series are all vulnerable to this madman while Sam and his newly found son are frantically trying to find an abducted woman. Once again Mr. Dixon keeps us turning pages with sparkling dialog and unforseen plot twists.

Meet the Author

A few years ago Keith Dixon realised that what he wanted to do was give up work and write fiction full time.

So since then he's written four novels featuring private eye Sam Dyke and published a non-crime book, Actress. He's also given up work.
