    Highly Recommended

Review of the book: Private Sins by Brenda Barett
The book is just WOW! And I highly recommend it to all. Its subject matter can rightly be captured as: dealing with guilt, faith, betrayal, judgment and forgiveness. The story centers around the protagonist Kelly, the wife of the minister, Theo, and her struggle with guilt resulting from adultery committed with Chris, a man whom she has had a crush on years back. Sin begins with a seed and if not dealt with and uprooted before it grows, it will develop roots downwards and blossom in the right season to shed its fruit!
The novel progresses to show misplaced importance by a man of God who rightly forgot that his first ministry is his HOME. When a mate is neglected in the home, whether it is even as a result of legitimate reasons as ministry – there is no telling what the consequences would be! There are numerous lessons to be drawn from this book. Yet the bottom line being that mistakes mad can have far-reaching results that would stare one daily to the face
The author, Brenda did a real great job – this being the first of her books that I have read. That it captured my attention from its first page and sustained it till the end – I could not even put the book down till I read it through within hours! Seeing Kelly’s struggles with her conscience and the temptation to confess and right the wrongs she had committed!; Also Theo’s struggles with forgiveness – is just heart-rending and real. Her style in weaving a scene unto another and also succeeding in creating suspense is superb! It’s like almost watching a MOVIE! I found myself in all forms of state with the main characters: Fear, Pity, Understanding, Anger and even weeping with her. And at the end of course, it was pure tears of joy!
The part of Theo was so strong – his struggles with the knowledge that there is an imbalance created by the time given to his ministry and the lapse created at home brought about his decision to make it up to Kelly. That was a good thing he did – but I kept on asking myself why he did not do this before? Is it that he did not see it? Could it be that Kelly was presenting a front of being ‘strong’ and keeping ‘straight face’ in being the ministers’ wife outside but ‘cracking and dying’ inside? Such that even at home, she could not clearly pass the message across to her husband? How come he only saw her misery after the situation was too grave? No wonder, he had to tell her among the rules for reconciliation that “"never ever stop communicating with me okay? If I get too overbearing, if I stop being the husband you love, tell me. Talk to me."
Well it is all the part of suspense to make the reader do a brain-storming on his own and learn more hidden lessons!
In conclusion, I must say that Brenda did a Perfect work here and I would truly love to read all her other books.

    Review:

"Private Sins" by Brenda Barrett was indeed a wonderful read. This was my first read by this author and I was very impressed with its realistic storyline that deals with 'betrayal, adultery, love and forgiveness.' The characters were all very well developed and well portrayed, colorful and believable. In the end you are only left wanting the entire series: 'Three Rivers.'

    Book Descriptions:

"Kelly was in deep trouble; her husband was a pastor and she his loyal first lady. Well she was…until she had an affair with Chris; the first elder of their church. And now she was pregnant with his child. Could she keep the secret from her husband and pretend that all was well? Or should she confess her private sin and let the chips fall where they may?"

"Private Sins" was definitely a novel that was hard to put down and will leave you with only a good moral thoughts behind this awesome story that I would recommend as a excellent read.
