Pulitzer Prize winner and foreword writer Steve Breen, along with nominees Matt Wuerker and Mike Thompson, pokes fun at the state of the nation with award-winning quality. Winners and runners up of the National Headliner Award, Thomas Nast Award, Robert F. Kennedy Journalism Award, and Herblock Prize, among others, are profiled with brief interviews.

Dean P. Turnbloom, a thirty-year veteran and former chief warrant officer in the U.S. Navy, has cartooned all his life, but it was not until he retired from the military that he began having his work published. His cartoons have appeared in local and national newspapers such as USA Today as well as on CNN.com.
