Overview

High praise for the Pro Basketball Forecast (formerly the Pro Basketball Prospectus), but a quick peek inside will no doubt leave you nodding your head in agreement. With stats, predictions, and now even projections for every single player, plus an essay discussing the recent history and future hopes of every team in the NBA, the Forecast kicks off its brand-new name with the same great information and then some. Last year John Hollinger introduced you to similarity scores, a compilation designed to give a comparison between a player's season and ones of past players at the same age. He takes that a step further this year, looking at how each of those similar players did their next season and using that to predict stats for the 2004-05 year. Hollinger also evaluates players who have competed in both the Euroleague and the NBA, coming up with a standard ratio for points, rebounds, and more-allowing for predictions on how current Euroleague players will stack up when they attempt the big move stateside.

Of course, Hollinger still has the same on-target insights and in-depth commentary you've come to expect. For instance, in last year's book Hollinger tabbed cover-boy Michael Redd as the most underrated player in the league; after last season, Redd is finally getting his due. He also correctly pegged Zach Randolph as "a rising star who should be an all-star within a couple of seasons." Want predictions? "With Brown calling the shots and legions of talented players in their prime, I expect Detroit to make a run at a title soon." And which overpaid, overrated star received the Hollinger barb "there isn't a bigger fraud in the league than this guy" and performed right down to those expectations? We won't embarrass the player by giving his name...but it rhymes with "Rolowokandi." What does Hollinger forecast for the forthcoming season? Pick up a copy and find out. With unique statistics, in-depth analysis of players and teams, and now with projections for every player who saw significant time last year, the Pro Basketball Forecast is the only publication an NBA fan needs!
