A text for engineering students or reference for practicing manufacturing engineers and designers, Much of the methodology involves analytical tools that allow designers and manufacturing engineers to predict the manufacturing and assembly costs of a proposed product before detailed design has taken place. Unlike other texts on the subject, which tend to be descriptive, this text provides the basic equations and data that allow manufacturing and assembly cost estimates to be made. Thus, for a limited range of materials and processes engineers and students can make cost estimates for real parts and assemblies and, therefore, become familiar with the details of the methods employed and the assumptions made.
