    When I put down Profound River, I remarked to a friend, "It's a long time since I have cried over a book." Today I read the author's intention on his home page "to write so beautifully..." and wanted to assure him he had succeeded. The depth and credibility of Juliana, in my opinion, is masterful. Her innate nobility unfolds as she contemplates fish, falcons, herself and others and gently invites us to become fellow-contemplatives.
