Editorial Reviews

From Barnes & Noble
The Barnes & Noble Review
If you’re a serious VB.NET developer, this is as comprehensive and useful a reference as you could hope for. Whether you’re using .NET to create standard Win32 applications, web apps, or web services, Francesco Balena offers insights you’ll appreciate -- and code you can use.

There’s detailed coverage of multithreading, Windows Forms, ASP.NET Web Forms, GDI+, and XML-related classes, plus a thorough explanation of ADO.NET -- both connected and disconnected modes. Balena’s improved an already superb book with new discussions of remoting, COM+ integration, enterprise services, code access security, and optimization. Of course, he’s thoroughly updated everything for VB.NET 2003/.NET 1.1. Except for mobile controls, hardly anything’s missing. Bill Camarda

Bill Camarda is a consultant, writer, and web/multimedia content developer. His 15 books include Special Edition Using Word 2003 and Upgrading & Fixing Networks for Dummies, Second Edition.

This book will take you farther than most

From the moment I picked up this behemoth book I was very impressed. Its excellent setup, the breadth of the subjects it covers and the additional information that is contained on the accompanying CD are second to none. I have to admit that (due to the size of the book) I have not completed reading it just yet, but now that I have hit the halfway mark I have felt compelled to let everyone know how impressed I am with this book. If you are going to buy one VB.NET book this month let it be this one.
