Overview

Neurologist Doctor Barton is held captive by scientists, helping them to alter their DNA. But after a decade of experiments, he figures out that they are not going to let him go as promised. They are going to kill him. Not only are they now searching for him and his hiding will come to an end, but his own DNA has been compromised and he cannot leave in his mutated state. He needs a cure. A cure that was promised by his captors long ago. But there never was a cure. He must create one himself using the last two human patients as experiments. But time has run out. They know of his plan. And now they've found him.

I had thought I knew what was going on, but then I realized I was wrong, and then wrong again! So many twists! I really wanted to be right about Barton. Great story.

The book starts off at a fast pace that kept me excited and guessing which way the characters were going to play out. I was surprised. I wish more was done with Adelle and Darryl though. Is there more books from McKenzie? Or is this his only? Thanks.

Contrary to the one star opinion, this wasn't a bad book. I've spent more money on 'popular' hardcovers that SUCKED! I liked it, and found it suspenseful and it does have a great twist to it.

I almost gave up on the story several times hoping it would get better. It did not. I was actually glad that it was not longer.
