One Hundred Years Of Solitude by Gabriel Garcia Marquez

Translated from Spanish but don't let that concern you - the translation is superb and the story fresh and palpable.
A magical, enchanting book that draws the reader in from the very first sentence. It is the complex and delightful saga of the Buendia family, full of complex characters in a lost world in which anything can, and does, happen next. Haunting and thought provoking, it is excellent reading. It contains many long sentences but the subject matter is so fascinating that the reader does not become bored but savors each and every word as the colorful tapestry of the story is woven. Garcia is an excellent story teller and is at his best in this novel. Winner of the Nobel Prize. Highly recommended.
