Overview

Five amazing authors.

Five unforgettable stories.

In this exciting collection of paranormal tales, best-selling authors Stephenie Meyer (Twilight), Kim Harrison (Once Dead, Twice Shy), Meg Cabot (How to Be Popular), Lauren Myracle (ttyl), and Michele Jaffe (Bad Kitty) take prom mishaps to a whole new level—a truly hellish level. Wardrobe malfunctions and two left feet don't hold a candle to discovering your date is the Grim Reaper—and he isn't here to tell you how hot you look.

From angels fighting demons to a twisted take on getting what you wish for, these five stories will entertain better than any DJ in a bad tux can. No corsage or limo rental necessary. Just good, creepy fun.

Meet the Author

Stephenie Meyer
Stephenie Meyer

Stephenie Meyer, author of the bestselling Twilight and New Moon, graduated from Brigham Young University with a degree in English Literature. She lives with her husband and three young sons in Arizona.

Biography

According to Stephenie Meyer, the idea for her sensational debut novel, Twilight, came to her in a vividly detailed dream in 2003. Over the course of three months, writing at night when her children were in bed, the young Mormon mother of three developed that dream into the spellbinding story of 17-year-old Bella Swan, who moves from Phoenix, Arizona, to the tiny town of Forks, Washington, and falls in love with a beautiful, mysterious vampire named Edward Cullen. After feverish writing, painstaking editing, and a brief but frustrating round of queries, submissions, and rejections, Meyer finally connected with an editor at Little, Brown who fell in love with the manuscript and signed her to a three-book deal.

Twilight debuted in October, 2005. An immediate sensation, it appeared on several year-end best books lists and earned its author a rabid cult following among teenage girls. Since then, Meyer has continued Bella and Edward's story in bestselling sequels that have proved equally successful. Young readers cannot get enough of these riveting novels -- a captivating blend of vampires, romance, and suspense -- and parents rest easy knowing the books do not contain the graphic language and sexually provocative material that pervades some YA series.

Whether or not the Twilight Saga proves to have "Harry Potter legs" remains to be seen. Meanwhile, Meyer continues writing. She forayed into adult fiction with 2008's The Host, a chilling science fiction tale about the end of humanity, told from the perspective of an alien invader. And she makes it clear the door is open for further installments in her vampire romance. Clearly, this talented author has many more stories to tell.

Good To Know

Here are some fun facts from Stephenie's "unofficial" biography on her website:
"The unusual spelling of my name was a gift from my father, Stephen ( + ie = me ). Though I have had my name spelled wrong on pretty much everything my entire life long, I must admit that it makes it easier to google myself now."

" I met my husband, Pancho (his real name is Christiaan, but no one calls him that—it's not a long story, but it is a stupid one, so I'll skip it), when I was four, but we were never anywhere close to being childhood sweethearts. In fact, though we saw each other at least weekly through church activities, I can't recall a single instance when we so much as greeted each other with a friendly wave, let alone exchanged actual words.

This may have been for the best, because when we did eventually get around to exchanging words, sixteen years after our first meeting, it only took nine months from the first "hello" to the wedding."

" I am also a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and that has a huge influence on who I am and my perspective on the world, and therefore what I write (though I have been asked more than once, 'What's a nice Mormon girl like you doing writing about vampires?')."

"I can't write without music, and my biggest muse is the [British rock] band Muse."

A transcript of the dream that inspired Twilight appears in the book as Chapter 13, "Confessions."

    Nice Compilation Book

I happen to like these books that bring a bunch of popular writers together and they each do short stores on a similar subject. The great thing is I found out thru this book that I really wanted to get one of Kim Harrison's novels because the prequel to it is one of the stories here. The stories are all short, but really well written and they all have a great take on prom. Too bad my prom isnt going to have any vampires or demon's creating havoc. Oh well, a girl can dream cant she?

Great if you want a something quick to read, but the stories really do hold your interest. Plus Stephanie Meyer's story has nothing to do with Twilight and is really entertaining.

    Prom Nights from Hell

A good and quick read,I was attracted to the themes of prom which i am sure every girl is,Each story was unique with a twist but i felt all the stories were vague and only Stephenie Meyer's "Hell on Earth had dept but that does not mean the other stories were bad,A good read for that will not make you think too much and ponder also perfect for the beach.

The truth from a 14 teen

This is a short fun and all around romantic read. I find it amazing because im forever looking for new authors to read books by. With this i can smple a little bit of work from a lot of people. So now i have new authors to check. All the stories were intresting and contained an engaging plot. My only complaint is that i belive the book cost to much.

    Pretty Fun

I am a huge fan of Meg Cabot (which is the reason I read it). I really loved her story: It was short, funny, and cute. Lauren Myracle was good and even more so if you know the story "Monkey's Paw". I felt like Michele Jaffe and Kim Harrison's stories were exciting but a little long for a short story. Stephenie Meyer's story seemed like it had something going for it but than it just got a little confusing with all the point of views of characters. But if you want to read some fun stories go head and pick this up.

    Great tween read!

I picked up this book because Stephanie Meyers name was on the front and I'm a fan of the twilight series. This is a great tween book, but doesn't resonate with the same vibe that the twilight series does.

    another answer

i'm not that sure. i read a few of the "teaser chapters" in look inside, and they seem like continuations. the first copy from 07 ended like it would be a series, but idk. they're the same length, so i guess the only way to be sure is to go to the store and check it out.

    To answer your question

I'm assuming it is just a reprint of the one that came out in 2007. If you compare the synopsis.

*A cute skinny girl walks in. She has curly medium length reddish hair that cascades over her shoulders and bright blue eyes. A few strand of hair fall over her face. She wears barely any makup but still looks good. She doesnt like to dress fancy but a friend had pursuaded her to wear a silky blue sleevless dress and saphire earings. She wears a necklace with some crystals and black beads on it. She grabbed some snacks and sat in a chair watching since she was so shy.*
