Home Health Nurse Hallie Lindstrom is assigned Amish widower John Lapp. She offers to stay with his children while he's in the hospital. Fifteen year old Emma takes care of the household. Her two younger brothers handle the dairy operation since John cut his toes off while chopping wood. Hal soon realizes Emma suffers from depression.
