Editorial Reviews

Library Journal
Katherine Taggart, known as Rusty because of her red hair, adores children and is able to indulge her love for them by working in her family's orphanage. When she accompanies two orphans to their new home, Rusty meets wealthy Chase McCandles and soon finds herself falling in love with him. On the surface, Chase, a believer in God, appears to be everything a devout Christian would want. However, Rusty discovers that Chase treats his own son Quintin with great distance, and she is reluctant to pursue a relationship with a man who doesn't share her devotion to children. Wick (Whispers of Moonlight, Harvest House, 1996) does a fine job of re-creating life in turn-of-the century Colorado. Chase is especially well written, which allows him to become more that the usual one-dimensional romantic lead. Highly recommended.

    AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is most certainely the best Lori Wick book I have ever read, and quite possibly the best book ever! She is an amzing writer; I will start a book, and within minutes I am completely engrossed and cannot put it down. She is definetley a Christian writer, but doesn't go completely over the top with Bible verses and things in the books. Her books are wonderfully romantic and absolutely sensational! The relationships in this book with Quintin and Rusty is so sweet! Rusty is so great with kids, and the way she plays with him is sweet and cute. She has a totally different way with kids then adults, like what she does with them is just for them, and it's truly wonderful. You don't really find that in books anymore, the kid-adult realtionships and things, and the way Lori sticks them in is amazing! I hope you write forever Lori! You just might be my new favorite author!!!

    Recommended historical romance

The interplay between Rusty and her employer Chase keeps the reader involved as they work through differences in the raising of Chase's son. Though predictable, it still is a good read.

Really great reading...romance and history intermingled!

Lori Wick has created a story which will touch your heart as you travel with Katherine Taggart and see where her love of children takes her."Rusty"(Katherine's nickname)is a beautiful young woman with a head of beautiful hair which has earned her the nickname."Rusty" is also a beautiful person on the inside with a loving heart and a true love for children. Rusty spends her time working at the children's orphanage with her Aunt and Uncle and devotes her time to making things better for the children. A trip to place two children with a family leads her to travel on an adventure that will introduce her to Chase McCandles.Rusty's life takes quite a turn as she meets Quintin McCandles and has to call on her faith as she has to learn to trust God to help her with decisions that she has to make. A change in scenery and a change in the people in her life are all questions that will unfold and she has to depend upon God to help her make the right choices regarding Quintin and Chase.
From the first pages of the book I was captivated with the storyline. The story of love, family and trust are told in a delightful format and I had a hard time putting the book down. It will definitely be a part of the library and will be read again and again. A perfect rainy day read!
