Overview

The editor-in-chief of Guideposts magazine presents life-changing stories--incluidng his own recovery from addiction an depression--that demonstrate the simple keys to personal change and fulfillment. Years of listening to other people's stories of going through tough times, hoping to overcome difficult odds, or trying to find a way to make a difference in the world brought Edward Grinnan to the undersanding that personal change is vital to achieving success. In each chaper of this book, he weaves the tales of other people with his own story to reveal how each of us can learn about the keys to powerful personal change. He shows these principles at work in his own personal struggle with alcoholism, and how he has learned through his own missteps to accept change and become the person he was meant to be.

This is the second Nook book I have ordered that is incorrectly formatted for the book from the publisher, Guideposts. I don't know how many others are incorrectly formatted. In this book, the font is very tiny and it cannot be resized. I think they should stop offering Nook editions until they can do it correctly. This is the only publisher I have encountered on Barnes and Noble with this problem. Daily Guideposts 2011 is also unreadable.

I HAVE BEEN AN ADMIRER OF EDWARD GRINNAN'S WORK FOR SOME TIME AND LOOKED FORWARD TO READING HIS STORY WITH UNABASHED ENTHUSIASM. I WAS NOT DISAPPOINTED. THE RESULT- A COLLECTION OF SOME OF THE MOST INSPIRING STORIES HIGHLIGHTED IN GUIDEPOSTS INTERWOVEN WITH EDWARD'S PERSONAL STORY- WAS HEARTBREAKING AND HEARTWARMING. MOST IMPORTANTLY, THE BOOK DELIVERED WHAT ITS TITLE PROCLAIMED: THE PROMISE OF HOPE. I HAVE READ THIS BOOK TWICE AND I CAN HONESTLY SAY I WAS MOVED, MOTIVATED, AND LEFT WITH A RENEWED SENSE OF HAPPINESS. YOU, DEAR READER, WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED.

I eagarly awaited this book to download. When I tried to read it I had to almost stop immediately. The font is so small it gives me a headache to read much at one time. Why can't the font bechanged? Tried all sizes and no change! If you really want to read this go to Guideposts and order the book!

What a powerful work the Lord has done in Mr. Grinnan's life, & the lives of the others featured in the book. This book touched me more than I imagined it could. Mr. Grinnan's story was so compelling & honestly told - my respect & admiration for him skyrocketed after reading this book &,even more so, my gratitude to a compassionate God who does "exceedingly abundantly more than we could ask or imagine". I loved the way the book was structured w/ amazing Guideposts stories interwoven with Mr. Grinnan's to illustrate the 9 "keys" to personal change. I've read numerous books on this sort of personal change but this introduced aspects I don't remember others ever covering but that I knew were Truth as soon as I heard them (e.g. imagination, resilience). I listened to the audiobook, then bought the print version. Initially it took me a bit to get used to the narrator of the audiobook but by the end he seemed like an old friend. I just can't say enough about how much I love & recommend this book. (P.S. As a LONG time B&N member, I've bought a lot of books/movies/music over the years but confess I've submitted less than a handful of reviews - so for me to do this says a lot in & of itself! I'm submitting as 'anonymous' because I can't change my B&N account "pen name" - a very odd restriction!)

No matter what your own struggle may be, you will be able to relate in some way to the absolute amazing way lives can be transformed. And, you will realize hope is always present. Never give up. The way Edward Grinnan intertwined his own story throughout makes it especially interesting. The last few words of the book sums it all up. I loved it! Had bought it for my sister, just thought I'd read the cover and glance through it. I couldn't put it down. Now I don't want to part with it , so I'm buying her another copy.

This book will renew your faith. Edward Grinnan not only tells amazing stories of faith that will strengthen your own, but he also reveals his personal life struggle for the first time publically which also helps the reader takes a more honest look at their own life. I highly recommend this book for those on a serious faith journey.
