Overview

Book 3 in the Promises series.

Wyoming Territory 1870
Widowed and barren, Jenna sees the newborn left on her doorstep as a priceless gift worthy of any sacrifice. She knows she'll need a husband to keep the baby, but nothing prepares her for the man who offers.

Big and dark, simmering with a deadly intensity, Clint McKinnely could put fear into the devil. He certainly strikes fear into her. But Jenna soon discovers that the man behind the reputation is the one man she longs to trust.

A hard man burned out by the choices he's made, Clint is looking for a reason to go on. He finds one in Jenna Hennessy. Lushly plump, sweet and shy, she calls to him on every level. When it looks as though Jenna might lose the daughter she loves for lack of a husband, Clint steps forward. Having Jenna in his home brings Clint a peace he's never known, but even as he ferrets out the secrets that haunt Jenna's nightmares, Clint keeps his own close to his chest, knowing this marriage is temporary because there are some sins a man can't expect his wife to forgive.

5 STARS!!!

"Sarah McCarty delivers again with Promises Prevail... With her usual flair she has created a powerfully erotic, emotional, and thought provoking romance that draws you in from the first chapter and refuses to let go, keeping you wishing for more even after the story ends. I laughed, cried, shivered and moaned. Clint and Jenna are so full of life that you can’t help losing yourself in their story. Promises Prevail is unquestionably a 10 on the sizzle scale."

Meet the Author

Sarah has traveled extensively throughout her life, living in other cultures, sometimes in areas where electricity was a concept awaiting fruition and a book was an extreme luxury. While she could easily adjust to the lack of electricity, living without the comfort of a good book was intolerable. To fill the void, she bought pencil and paper and sketched out her own story. In the process, Sarah discovered the joy of writing.

Sarah writes what she loves to read; fast paced stories with vivid dialogue, intense emotion and well developed characters. Her attention to detail in her stories has earned her multiple awards and a reserved spot on Keeper shelves everywhere.

Sarah writes for Harlequin HQN, Harlequin SPICE, Berkley HEAT and Berkley SENSATION.

This was a great story in a great series. I loved how the characters reacted to eachother andhownthe ending played out. My only complaints are that it took till the end of the book to find out what caused her injury before the story took place and that occasionaly the story would jump around too much and get somewhat confusing for me. I also wish the females in this series had believable inner strength. I know the stories all show them getting stronger as they go, but it seemed fake or just words to me. Like they all had to get strength from their husbands.

I really enjoyed reading this series, I hope that there will be more, would like to find out what happens with Jackson, Nidia, Brenna, and Red Gray. I have told my daughters that they needed to read this series

I love how this author can take me away and make me forget laundry, dishes, and sometimes even kids. Always sad to see the end of her books.

Clint and Jenna are quite believable as a couple in the Wyoming 1800's. Although the women are supposed to be meek and do whatever the hubby tells them to, Jenna comes out of her shell quite nicely in this 3rd installment of the "Promises" western series. And from what Jenna experienced when she was younger, she emerged much stronger, due to her inner strength and due to Clint's help. Definitely an excellent read!!!

This was such a good story. Very real and very moving. I felt bad for all the bad things that happened to Jenna before Clint. I can't wait to read about Rev. Brad.

I cannot think of a single reason anyone would not like Promises Prevail. I was so utterly captivated by Jenna's chance for happiness, I could not look away--not even when hearts were breaking all over the place (mine included). You know that feeling that overcomes even the strongest (intellectually, emotionally) women at times? The one that makes you literally want to crawl up and into a man that makes you feel safe? The trace of hope you hold (along with your breath) when you think you've found that man, that safety? Then the relief you feel--however tenuous at first--once you get there? That is how this story made me feel from nearly the first page. It's that ability to move me, to draw me into a story so deeply that I actually hold my breath here or laugh out loud there...it's that ability that makes Sarah McCarty undoubtedly one of the best authors I've ever read. There will never be a story published by McCarty that I will not read.

This is the 3rd book in the Promises series. I have to admit it, I'm a sucker for a hot alpha male in a cowboy hat. I liked Clint from his appearances in the first two books, and I loved him in this one. Just like the other two, there's some pretty hot, toe-curling sex scenes in this book, but not as many and not as rough. Clint and Jenna like it just a bit more gentle than the previous couples. Jenna brought more baggage with her than the heroines in the first two books, and she needed a gentler hand because of it. One of my favorite parts of this book was the way Jenna and Clint built their family - by choice rather than by blood. They both have a soft spot for the hurting (although Clint's is a lot harder to see than Jenna's), and the idea of family and community was much stronger in this book than in the other two. I was not pleased with the way Jenna put herself in danger toward the end of the book. It didn't seem to gel with her character, and therefore sort of threw off the flow of the story for me. However, it was still a really good book
