Editorial Reviews

All Music Guide - Jenna Woolford
The 1969 Grammy-winning score by Burt Bacharach and Hal David, Promises, Promises was adapted by Neil Simon from Billy Wilder's screenplay of the 1960 film The Apartment with Jack Lemmon and Shirley MacLaine. A Broadway smash that lasted over 1,200 performances, the play won one Tony Award alongside four Grammys, and was out of print for many years before being reissued on CD in 1999. The songs include several of Bacharach-David's best, including "I'll Never Fall in Love Again," "What Do You Get When You Fall in Love" and the title song.

    Promises, Promises summer pick.

The original cast recording of Promises, Promises is searing. Like all seminal Burt Bacharach pieces you'll remember the time and place you first heard it. Promises, Promises hints fantasy fulfillment is right around the corner. With a semi autobiographical touch, who would've thought you'd meet a match who shares your passion for basketball. I'm there. It's a big deal Promises, Promises has made its way to cd. Snatch it.

    Wow! My first Broadway Show!!

Unbelievable that it's here..I went to Tower records in New Orleans several years ago and they said it wasn't available in any format! Anyone know what ever happened to Jill O''hara? I know she was in HAIR too..
