First American Edition. This authors first book. The book is clean, tight and square with a small remainder mark on the bottom edge near the spine and a small stray ink mark to the ... top corner of the front free end paper. The unclipped dust jacket colors are still bright and unfaded and show only a light bit of rubbing and edge wear. There are two neatly closed edge tears. Both just about one half inch to three quarters of and inch in length. One is on the bottom edge of the rear panel and the other is on the bottom of the front panel near the flap fold. The book looks good in the new Mylar dust jacket cover. Read more Show Less

    A few flaws

I really liked this book. I couldn't even put it down! I loved the world Hoffman presented which was a New York underground of heroine, loose girls, and gangs. I loved the situations the characters were in and there really was no dull moment

The problem I had however was the development of the minor characters. The main characters were really good. But The Property and The Orphans hardly made an impact of the stories. It's a shame to because their intro does leave the reader wanting more. Oh, and you will definitely end up hating McKay and want to slap the main girls face silly.

    A Book with Potential ! ! !

This book was violent and risky. It was very descriptive how life is for a Gang. As you got through the book, you can feel the happiness, pain, and hoplessness the narrator went through just to impress one boy.

Almost addicting...I couldn't put it down!!!!!!

Alice Hoffman is awesome! I was tied down to the book until I finished the last page. I felt as if I was right there w/ the main character- feeling sad, happy, free, numb, etc. I can't wait to read another book by her!!!

    Intriguing, draws reader in

I loved this book. Even though I have never experimented with drugs or anything, I could feel everything the reader was going through. The book absolutely drew me in.
