Editorial Reviews

VOYA
The five Daughters of the Moon are off on their eleventh adventure in The Prophecy, attempting to recover a scroll that threatens to reveal their magic identities. The bulk of the action centers on Catty, who is the scroll's sole heir by virtue of a prophecy that only the child of a fallen goddess and an evil spirit will be immune to its curse. The search leads Catty to Nefandus, a parallel universe where she encounters her malevolent father. He uses the opportunity to try to convince Catty that she should accept the evil that is her birthright, and with the help of the scroll, join him as the new ruler of the dark side. Good ultimately prevails over evil but not without a life-and-death decision by Catty. Adults might dismiss some maudlin romantic passages, but such descriptive amorous scenes will surely appeal to the amorous imaginations of teens. Readers will understand the plot even if not familiar with the rest of the series, although Ewing sometimes refers without explanation to a few characters from earlier volumes. These fast-paced, spirited books are sure to be a satisfying read for fans and newcomers alike with their combinations of adventure, suspense, and supernatural foreboding. The Prophecy

The Prophecy brings the story back to today's Daughters and zero's in on Catty. Someone has stolen the Secret Scroll from her and is put up on display at the art museum. However, the Scroll's powers are increasing..it's killed one man and is making the people who come to view it incredibly ill in a matter of minutes. After a run-in with local bad-boy Kyle and a number of failed attempts at trying to steal the Scroll, Kyle tells her he knows who can help her get it back......and something else she wants back. Chris. Catty travels with Kyle to his homeland of Nefandus where regulators roam un-masked and evil lurks around every corner spying for the Atrox. The man Kyle takes her to turns out to be none other than Catty's father. And from there, the drama continues to unfold. How can she retrieve the Scroll so that noone else will die, AND so that noone can figure out the truth behind it's incriptions & therefore discover her and her friends' secret? What does the Scroll actually do?? What tricks does it contain to aid in fighting the Atrox? Who is Kyle and what is Nefandus? All of these plus more are answered in The Prophecy.
This was definitely a good book. Not the best, and again I began to tire of it towards the end but it held my interest more than the last one. I had a perfect image of Nefandus in my head which of course helped and the sexual tension between Kyle and Catty aided as well. The series is almost over and I'm getting excited to see how it ends. This is a great book for younge teen females looking to escape into a fiction book with delightful characters whom they can identify and agree with. I, as a 21 yr old, can see a little myself in each one of them.

I can not believe what happened to Chris, he and Catty were such a cute couple. At least he wanted to die. I liked this book and Passion the best and I thought the talismet was the most informing, to bad Maggie died at the end

    This is an AWESOME book!

This book is amazing!... It is by far the best adventure so far. Well besides in book # 9 with Jimena and her being shoved into the past. Lynne Ewing has a great way of making you feel things and describes things very well.

    Ewing at her best!

I've read all 12, and at first, it seemed to me that Catty's adeventures were the best. But when I read this one... Oh, boy... Did it rock! This one is what I proclaim the best of the DOTM series so far, and by far. I doubt none of the other girl's adeventures can compare to Catty's!

    One of the best!

I absolutely loved it. I like how Lynne Ewing is so descriptive in her writing! I have read all up to #11. I can't wait to read #12. I want to know what is in store for them! This is my probably favorite so far. It is my favorite because of how much teen stuff is in it. They show that even though you are different. You still go through the same things as everyone else has to go through. It is almost like a teenager wrote it. Which I like about it. I think everyone who likes magical things or if they like out of this world kind of things should read these books. Especially this one. It is the greatest!

    Overall Good Book-Ending, Not-So-Good

This book was really great. It's a book about Catty and the scroll that tells you how to defeat the Atrox. It includes really interesting information about Catty's father. I really wonder if the lady in the Chinatown shop was Maggie in disguise. She gave Catty a fortune cookie telling her what to do with the scroll. Although the book was overall good, I was hoping it would tell you what would happen in the end. I thought it was the last book in the series. I didn't really like the end.

    Really awesome

I have been a fan of these books since I was twelve or something, and have yet to be disappointed by this series. Every one of them have been very suspenseful and addicting, and although I'm not a HUGE fan of reading, I can't stop when I read these. This has got to be the best series ever, and I can't wait for the companion series to come out!

    Highly Recommended

When I first started reading Daughters of the Moon I couldn't put them down. This one didn't fail me. You don't normally hear much about Catty so I was excited to see a lot of action in this book. I read it in only 3 hours and now im anxiously waiting for the next one to come out. The wait is the hardest part!
