Protecting Our Children's Teeth: A Guide to Quality Dental Care from Infancy Through Age Twelve

by Malcolm S. Foster

Editorial Reviews

Library Journal
Foster, a pediatric dentist, provides clear, concise descriptions of the development, growth, eruption, exfoliation, and, in particular, care of the teeth of children. For concerned parents, he dispenses a large amount of practical information in a readable form with small flashes of humor and no condescension. Using line drawings to help understanding, Foster discusses what to expect and what to do for a child's teeth in each age group. Some of the questions he answers include: what oral hygiene practices should begin before the appearance of baby teeth; what to look for when choosing a child's first toothbrush and toothpaste; and what is the correct age for the first dental exam. Since very few dental books are aimed at lay readers, this useful book, along with Jack Klatell and others' The Medical Center Family Guide to Dental Health ( LJ 10/1/91), is recommended for all public libraries and patient education collections.-- Aletha Kowitz, Bureau of Lib. Svces., American Dental Assn., Chicago
