I first heard Proud on the Queer As Folk soundtrack, where it was easily the standout track. I ordered it with hopes of a few more songs as good as it and lordy I found a whole album of finely crafted pop. Heather, formerly of ''M People'', wrote or co-wrote every song on the album. The album is a fine mix of pop, dance, gospel, fited with soaring melodies and thunderous crecendoes. And just enough electronic embelishment to give it a modern sheen. I found the production similar to Trevor Horns excellent Seal and ABC albums. The album shifts between uplifting numbers and beautiful ballads. Tossed in at the end is a hip hop dance duet with Tom Jones, probably to garner radio attention. How BMG failed to release this title in the states is curious. They probably thought it was too sophisticated for our tastes, but thankfully BN.com has made it easily available. Buy and Enjoy.

A heady mix of driving dance music and memorable ballads makes this a wonderful album. Great music, production and lyrics combine to provide a dazzling 45 minutes of sheer pleasure. Proud brings tears to the eyes whilst Holding On is infectious foot stomping disco. If you like quality music buy it or miss out on hearing a class act on top form. Great stuff.

In the UK Heather Small has been a star for years as lead vocalist with M People. In the States we have missed out on many class UK acts. If you don't believe me listen to this album. Small is wonderful! This album really should have been a worldwide smash - it's that good. It's never too late.

I love the sound of Heather Small's voice, the depth it has. The more you here her sing the more you will recognize it anywhere. She sings of positivity and it makes me feel good. I keep this CD in my car and anytime I'm getting a little down or things aren't going well I pop this CD in and it makes me happy and smile. What a joy to listen to a CD that you can sing along with and you know what she is saying. I highly recommend this CD and artist to anyone and everyone. Let it inspire you, "What have you done today to make you feel proud?"
