Challenged in reading this book of Proverbs formatted for a daily read through the 31 chapters of the New American Standard Version ~ From the backcover, "Its daily practical guidance offers tols to make the right choices, size up a situation, make fewer careless mistakes, and avoid unnecessary trouble.." Each day's reading is followed by a prayer crafted from the wisdom gleaned .. It's a lovely addition to daily spiritual inspiration from cover to content ~ Designed for reading invitation with refreshing cover, compact size, stylized torn edged pages, good font and size of type, including a gift giving frontispiece and proverbs principles for life, essential character keys: achievement, advice, anger, character, compassion, gossip, patience, peace, etc. Definitely recommended~
I have always gone to Psalms and Proverbs for comfort and guidance in my daily life. When I saw the title of this book I was anxious to read and pray the prayers that are offered at the end of each daily devotion. I do not wish to rush through the book, instead I will add it to my daily prayers and meditations for the 31 days suggested for this devotional. So far I believe I have read enough of this book to know it will be a great asset to me and my daily walk with God. Towards the end of the book is a section called Proverbs Principles there is a total of twenty-eight Proverbs principles. Here is just one excerpt from the Proverbs Principles. Direction: "The mind of man plans his way, but the Lord directs his steps." Proverbs 16:9 I highly recommend PROVERBS PRAYERS as a 31-Day Devotinal Journey. Disclosure I received a copy of this book from Litfuse/Summerside Press for review. I was in no way compensated for this review. It is my own opinion.
John Mason in his new book “Proverbs Prayers” published by Summerside Press gives us a 31-day devotional journey for praying the wisdom of Proverbs into your life every day. From the back cover: Have you discovered the life-altering wisdom found in the book of Proverbs? its daily practical guidance offers tools to make the right choices, size up a situation, make fewer careless mistakes, and avoid unnecessary trouble. Millions of readers journey through the book one chapter a day, month after month. What if you could combine the wisdom of Proverbs with your quiet time prayers? That is exactly what “Proverbs Prayers” offers. It not only contains the entire book of Proverbs from the trusted and literal New American Standard Bible, but a corresponding prayer by John Mason accompanies each chapter. The prayers incorporate every insight from that chapter and apply them to daily life. Also included is a section of key verses with a description of “Proverbs Principles” that are essential to Christian character. With “Proverbs Prayers”, in a mere thirty-one days you can pray into your life all of the wisdom of Proverbs. I have a question since there are many devotionals already on the market do we really need another one? Well when the devotional is “Proverbs Prayers” then I have to say the answer is yes. Each daily devotional is one chapter from the book of Proverbs followed by a prayer that allows the point of what we just read to really sink in. It is not easy to make time for Bible reading and Proverbs is an essential part as God put it in the Bible to provide us wisdom and guidance on how to make proper choices. Bite sized daily bits of wisdom that we can use in our prayer time even at the office when we go on breaks or at lunch. This book will be used month after month it is that good a resource. It is perfect to give as gifts to family and friends that they, also, will use month after month and thank you for it. I recommend this book highly! Proverbs Prayers is described as a 31 day devotional journey, and a journey it truly is. Many people are aware that the book of Proverbs contains 31 chapters – one for every day of the month, making it a popular devotional study. But John Mason encourages us to take on the challenge of not only reading a chapter every day, but also praying the chapter after reading it. If like me the thought of actually praying the verses of Proverbs stumps you just a little bit, Mason has written 31 prayers, one for each chapter in a simple, relatable format. For me, this book became the extra push to put me inside these verses. Not to be merely looking on through the open window, but to truly be inside and partaking in the searching, growing, and rejoicing. Mason has also included a reference style final section containing Proverbs principles by topics such as anger, gossip, and love. Besides being a wonderful source of encouragement and advice, this book is also absolutely gorgeous featuring beautiful script and rough cut edges, making it a fabulous gift idea! Disclosure: I received a complimentary copy of this book from a publicity agency. However, I was not required to write a positive review. The thoughts expressed above are entirely my own.
