Overview

Born with the sight, Lara McInnis is ambivalent about her paranormal ability. Oh it's useful enough some of the time with her psychotherapy patients. But mostly it's an embarrassment and an inconvenience-especially when her visions drag her to other worlds. Or into Goblin dens. In spite of escalating violence, incipient food shortages and frequent power blackouts, Lara is still far too attached to the comfortable life she shares with her boyfriend, Trevor, a flight attendant who lost his job when aviation fuel got so expensive-and so scarce-his airline went out of business. Forced to seek assistance to hone her unusual abilities in Psyche's Prophecy, Book I of this series, Lara is still quite the neophyte in terms of either summoning or bending her magic to do much of anything.

Reluctantly roped into channeling her unpredictable psychic talents to help a detective who saved her from a psychopathic killer, Lara soon finds herself stranded in the murky underbelly of a world inhabited by demons. The Sidhe offer hope, but they are so high-handed Lara stubbornly resists their suggestions. Riots, death on all sides, a mysterious accident and one particular demon targeting her, push Lara to make some hard decisions. When all seems lost, the Dreaming, nestled in the heart of Celtic magic, calls out to her. Heeding its summons brings sorrow, while opening the gates to a new life.

"EDGE-OF-YOUR-SEAT SUSPENSE WITH UNSTOPPABLE ACTION IN A SP

"EDGE-OF-YOUR-SEAT SUSPENSE WITH UNSTOPPABLE ACTION IN A SPECTACULAR THRILL RIDE!"

Inspired after wandering through the Sierras in awe of amazing mountain scenery and traveling through the back country, combined with expertise in clinical psychology, Ann Gimpel creates another Masterpiece in her second installment of 'The Transformation Series.' The author brings us from a nightmare that Lara escapes from in "PSYCHE'S PROPHECY' to a world of destruction and escalating chaos in "PSYCHE'S SEARCH." Why is Trevor in danger, who is the missing person, and does she survive? Society is crumbling to ashes, shortage of food and fuel increases as tension builds as fast as violence in a world of turmoil and conflict, where evil attempts to rule. What did Raven do that was unusual, who could be trusted, and will Lara's psychic powers lead her to the right road? I highly recommend this incredible page-turner to all contemporary fantasy lovers, who enjoy thrilling stories, combined with suspense, and romance. Ann Gimpel creates a remarkable tale that's filled with drama, twists-and-turns, demons and chilling paranormal activity that would light up a Movie screen. How does Lara help the detective, and what was he hiding? What trap did Gradosxt set, and who will be framed? Who killed Arabel, and why did Lara move? Will sizzling romance continue for Lara and Trevor, or will evil forces remove Lara from her comfort zone? Step into a mysterious world, filled with magic, blackouts, and a crippled civilization. A world of dark forces that will bring you to places you've never been to as you are spooked by demons, trapped between reality and the unknown! "PSYCHE'S SEARCH" is as intriguing as DECEIVED, as intelligent as STIR OF ECHOES, and as thrilling as THE SKELETON KEY.

    Suspenseful Sequel

Mysteries abound in this suspenseful sequel to Psyche’s Prophecy. After the brutal death of her secretary, Arabel, Lara McInnis is closing her psychology practice and moving to a sustainable farm with her boyfriend Trevor. Meanwhile, Raven, a Sidhe that has lived for centuries, is meeting with his clan, something that hasn’t happened in many years. Riots have broken out, and food is growing scarce.

Amidst all of this turmoil, Lara gets a phone call from a detective that helped her in the past. His daughter has gone missing, and she must tap into her psychic powers to help him find her. When she meets with him, she realizes he’s hiding something, and a single picture of his missing daughter gives her clues.

Despite having demons, Sidhe, psychic powers, a magical amulet, and an oncoming apocalypse, Psyche’s Search is very realistic. I’m impressed by how real and well rooted the characters and events are, and how they all tie together to create a genuine story. Trevor, Lara’s boyfriend is my favorite, because he is so caring and selfless. I love Lara’s logical nature, and how she must deal with illogical magic. Ann Gimpel’s writing is smooth and lyrical, and always calms me when I read it. She takes her time developing each separate storyline with the vision of the whole tapestry in mind.

Action Explodes in Book Two of the Transformation Series

The second book in Ann Gimpel's Transformation Series takes off running. Tension builds throughout this book and there are many surprises for the reader. As they struggle to cope with the escalating chaos and danger resulting from the collapse of society as we know it, the main characters, Lara and Trevor, find themselves increasingly drawn into the parallel world of magic. The more the everyday world crumbles around them, the more Psyche's realm is revealed. Gimpel's work builds on the premise that the trappings of our daily lives distract us from recognizing the magic that exists within and around us all of the time. I can't wait for the final book!

Book 2 in the Transformation Series

Reluctant to abandon the imagined security of her Seattle home, Doctor Lara McInnis attempts to put her life somewhat back to normal after learning of the Sidhe, their mysterious offer of protection and answers in the rural eastern Washington cabin, and the murder of her dear friend Arabel during the recent oil-shortage riots. She knows in her head that she must tie up the loose ends of her psychology business and university lectures so she and her partner Trevor can retreat to the cabin, but something keeps her dragging her feet. That something soon makes itself apparent as the demon Gradosxt who seems to be influencing her subconscious all the while pulling the strings of Officer Brad Dickey in order to ensnare Lara. The adrenaline really rises in this second installment of the Transformation Series and I found it difficult to put the book aside. Lara and Trevor seem to be in danger at every turn, and the reader gets carried along in the tumultuous flow. As with the first book of the series, Psyche's Prophecy, Psyche's Search makes us feel as if we've just turned a corner from our own reality; it's all right here in our world, merely hidden by the thinnest of veils. Looking forward to book three!
