Editorial Reviews

Doody's Review Service
Reviewer: Valerie E Mathis-Allen, MD (Pine Rest Christian Mental Health Services)
Description: This is an update of a comprehensive review of psychiatry designed to help medical students and international medical graduates pass the United States Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE) Step 2CK. The previous edition was published in 2009.
Purpose: The purpose is to provide a self-assessment and review of psychiatry using 500 questions (with detailed, paragraph-long answers) that correlate with the topics, format, and difficulty of the USMLE Step 2CK.
Audience: It is written for medical students and international medical graduates studying psychiatry.
Features: The most helpful features of this review are the variety of topics it covers, the detailed paragraph explanations, and the specific page references to textbooks or other resources. The only shortcoming is that the detailed paragraph answers are compiled in a separate chapter rather than appearing directly after each question.
Assessment: This is a great resource for medical students, international medical graduates, and anyone interested in assessing their knowledge of psychiatry.
