Within each volume, a wide array of academics, clinicians, and activists address the roots and fulmination of terrorism from a variety of perspectives. Child psychologists point out the early role of the authoritarian family in creating terrorists, whereas neoconservatives opine that realism-not psychology-is needed to eliminate terrorists. An African American Muslim delineates his anger with racism, his turn to terrorist activities, and his eventual struggle to leave terrorism behind. Psychologists point out the role that religion, politics, trauma, and psychosis play in terrorist tendencies. Progressive academics indict state-sponsored terrorism.
