Now Shawn Spencer, the mastermind from TV's hit show Psych, shows you how to become a fake psychic-and a real detective-using his patented methods of crime-fighting awesomeness. Along the way, he'll help you deal with whiny sidekicks (that means you, Gus), interfering police officers (including but not limited to Chief Vick, Lassiter, Henry, Buzz MacNab, and, ah, Juliet), and flashes of genius (like Evel Knievel's white leather jumpsuit). You'll discover:

  • How to set up a totally bitchin' office, where Wednesday = Ladies Night
  • How to convince your sidekick that he's really your partner
  • How to pick up women at a crime scene
  • Shawn's Stakeout Survival Guide, including sensible snacks
  • Gus's Scream-and-Run Method for confronting criminals
  • Unsolved mysteries like who stole Shawn's Sno-Caps in third grade
  • The ideal sleuth car: Magnum, P.I.'s Ferrari or Knight Rider's K.I.T.T.?
  • Who should play Shawn in the movie of his life: Christian Bale or Don Cheadle?
  • New names for detectives, such as Rico Solvé and Sherlock Homeboy

. . . and way more cool stuff.

Packed with insane pop quizzes, unbelievable case studies, unflattering photos, and off-the-chart charts, this all-in-one guide will have you solving crimes and catching crooks like a pro-even if you don't have a clue.

Meet the Author

Shawn Spencer hails from a family of cops, and was meticulously schooled from a very young age in the finer points of detective work. Soon Shawn begins calling in tips to the police hotline for crimes he sees on television to entertain himself. But one night, one of Shawn's tips lead police somewhere he never imagined — back to him. The detectives believe information this accurate could only have come from the inside. Desperate to avoid jail time, Shawn hastily explains that his insight is really second sight - he's a psychic. And though skeptical, the department is impressed and Shawn is hired on as a "psychic consultant". Immediately enlisting the assistance of his reluctant best friend, Gus, Shawn opens his own agency, PSYCH, taking his talent for detective work — and fun — in a new direction.

Burton "Gus" Guster has been party to the impulsive adventures of his best friend since they were kids, which is why he's convinced himself that the straight and narrow — a job as a pharmaceutical sales rep, 401(k) and a regular paycheck is right where he belongs. Still, the idea of being a private investigator intrigues him, and while he is completely horrified by Shawn's behavior most of the time, he knows that the excitement and adventure of their new enterprise might just make it all worth it.

It's a very good book. Worth your time and money. We gotta acknowledge when the real actors of the show sit down to write something as characters. This means that they love doing the show as much as we love watching it.

About the book itself, it's a comedy about teaching you the first steps on becoming a private detective. It has lots of excellent illustrations and some hilarious tables and footnotes. It's full of references (just like the show) and lacks no comedy.

I recommend if for fans of the show.

People dont judge a book by its cover, well i can tell right now that this book can be judged by its cover in a good way. Just by looking at this book you already know what its going to be like.I am such a PSYCH-O as the actors call their fans
