Children's Literature - Children's Literature
Puberty is a time of emotional and physical changes, that all must endure. It is a time of questions, adjustment and sometimes confusion. With the addition of this book, puberty may not be such a difficult time after all. Targeted at boys and girls, this book, part of the "What Do You Know About" series, offers answers, help, guidelines and support. Topics include a discussion of puberty, physical changes in boys and girls, emotional health and personal hygiene. The final section of the book is titled, "What Can We Do" and is intended as a guide with practical ideas for use by those experiencing puberty and adults as well. This book is one that can be used in a number of ways. On a personal basis, a parent and child could read the book together and discuss each situation and event. A middle school health class would benefit from the information provided in this volume, and the school library would benefit from adding it to the collection. This book is illustrated with photographs of actual teenagers and a "comic" book type story line that features realistic scenarios that teenage will relate to. 2000 (orig. 1995), Copper Beech Books, Ages 10 to 14, $21.90.
