Children's Literature
This book on the Pueblo is part of the "Native Americans Set II" series that covers Indian tribes throughout the United States. A Native American woman who strives to educate children about Native American culture and history writes its informative and interesting text. Her writing covers many topics that children often need to know about for school reports such as "original homelands," "food," and "home life." It also includes information on tribal myths and how European contact affected the tribe. A final chapter on the status of the tribe today demonstrates to the children that the various tribes within the Pueblo are still active to this day. Beautiful illustrations and colorful photographs are included throughout the book, along with a list of web sites, a glossary and an index. Overall, it is a well-written and engaging account on this particular Southwestern Native American tribe. 2002, ABDO Publishing Company, Caudill
