While the farmer's away, the animals decide to form a punk band and go on tour. First, they have to repair and paint the broken down van in the pasture. At each stop, they play to sold-out houses, entertaining animals in Maine, Florida and Colorado; at each stop, they sing their new hit, "Wheels on the Van." But the farmer is scheduled to return from his tractor society conference on the same day as their last concert, and it is a race to see who will return home first. The animals return just minutes before the farmer and are able to resume their secret, farm animal identities as the farmer drives into the farmyard. The simple text is fun and easy to read.
