Overview

The CIA has been accused of a massive intelligence failure in the run-up to the 9/11 attacks -- the result, it is said, of a moralistic and bureaucratic approach to information-gathering. But the CIA's spies had few qualms when it came to cultivating terrorist organisations and interfering in the internal politics of Cold War Italy. Puppetmasters reveals how US intelligence services exploited the P2 masonic lodge to prop up friendly Christian Democrat-dominated governments and counter the growing political influence of the Italian Communist Party. It was a ruthless strategy involving coup plots, right wing terrorist bombings and the manipulation of the Red Brigades. And it gave Italy one of the bloodiest and most protracted periods of terrorist violence ever seen in a modern, industrialised society.

Ravenstar leaped proudly up the owlperch. " all cats old enough to catch there own prey meet under the owlperch of a clan meeting!" We all shuffled over to the star maple. "Tigerkit, Swiftkit, Sunkit, and Berrykit step forward." She stood in font of me first," Tigerkit do u promise to uphold the warrior code even if it may cost ur life? And to respect ur mentor?" I squeaked," i do!" " swiftkit, sunkit and berrykit do u promise to uphold the warrior code even if it costs ur life. And to respect ur mentor?" They all said in a chour of mews,"i do!" "Then by the power of starclan i give u four ur apprentice names tigerkit from this day u are tigerpaw! Bluestrike u were first to set eyes on this young warrior u are ready for another apprentice. Swiftkit from this day u r swiftpaw! Silverstream will mentor u and pass on her grest hunting skills to u. Sunkit and berrykit from this dy u r known as sunpaw and berrypaw! And today was creekkit and my best friend stonekits apprenticeship. I knew there apprenticeship was happening at sunset so after looking at the whole territory i went to the top of a hill behind the medcat den. It was sootfur, he was only just made a warrior when i came a moon ago." With all tht flooping around u would seem like a new apprentice sootfur," i said. Sootfur let out a long purr and oakpaw bristled.. i wonder why? Oakpaw sat by me and stared coldly at sootfur. " why ru here?" Sootfur questioned. Me and oakpaw shruged and we all talked till fallowshine ordered us back to our dens.
