My 8 month old daughter is really in to the "touchy-feely" books right now. She responds to bright colors and textures. Although this book has both, the patches of the book that are texturized are entirely too small in my opinion. I don't think they do much to stimulate the mind. The book is a great size for her to hold and play with, but it is definitely not her favorite by a long shot. She does like to play with it in the floor, and it will be handy when she is older to help her learn opposites, but it is not a daily read in our house. I think it is a great book to give as a baby gift, stocking stuffer, etc., but it is not engaging enough for every day reading. We have Matthew Van Fleet's "Dog," and my daughter enjoys it much more. It has larger patches of texture and pull tabs. Overall, I think the biggest downfall of this book is the tiny patches of texturization. I can't find them, much less my 8 month old! She also has the "Farm" book in this series at her grandparents' house, but I think she enjoys the more engaging books they have for her there.
