At the dawn of the twentieth century, baseball has caught on like wildfire in the big cities. As 1904 is to mark the second year of the modern-day World Series, one of the most heated rivalries in sports history begins to emerge. In order to defend their title, Boston needs to get past their future nemesis from New York. But as the season winds down to its final series, a myth is growing out of the very fibers of the American fabric itself. A great short story written by an author very knowledgsble about the history of baseball around the turn of the 20th century. Ryan Thaddeus has taken a lot of time in not only the research of his story, but delving into some of the aspects of human nature. I thoughly enjoyed the book and found that reading it the second time revealing much more about what the author is trying to express. I would highly recommend this book for book club discussions.
