Editorial Reviews

I am so happy that Amy has the courage to share the truth behind the heart of the Proverbs 31 woman. Pursuit of Proverbs 31 is a different angle on the Proverbs 31 woman and it lines up with the freedom in Christ we have been given. Not freedom to be lazy, but freedom from a man-made yoke. She takes you on a journey through important elements of being a wife and mother. My heart was so full that I read it all in one sitting. She lays out a beautiful portrait of a woman whom God honors, and *gasp
Every woman needs this book! Amy has captured the essence of the Proverbs 31 woman and reminds us that we are called to freedom, not bondage. Through careful explanation and wise insight, Pursuit of Proverbs 31 is a thoughtful exploration of true biblical womanhood and how to live it out in the 21st century. A must-have for every young woman and a powerful resource (and reminder!) for those of us who are older.

    will read this book again...

I love the book. I know I will use it as a reference over and over. I plan to read it again, since I read it, I have forgotten some of the text, so, it is good to have it, readily available on my Nook.
Very good reading, for women, who want to live life as a Christian woman and by being an example of their faith.

    Highly recommended

In writing Pursuit of Proverbs 31, Amy Bayliss gives you a simple guideline on how to use her book. The first thing she suggests is reading it through. This will help you determine where you want to focus your growth within the Bible study. The first chapter dispels 3 myths about Proverbs 31. The rest of the book contains pointers on being a wife, mother, running a home, family management and ministry. Don’t worry, it is easy reading. That’s what I like about it. It’s not complicated.

This is not a verse-by-verse study of the Proverbs 31 study, but the focused thoughts, Scripture for memory, and other activities suggested at the end of each chapter are very beneficial to the study. And, they do not take much of your time to accomplish.

Since I am a widow in my 60’s, I’m prone to pass this book on to some of my younger married friends. I have taught Proverbs 31 and this book gives me food for thought. Amy’s use of her own personal experiences paints a clear picture of how we all struggle with misunderstandings on pleasing God. She reminds us that it’s all about putting Jesus first and how we can do that.

She nears the end of the book on how to be resourceful by finding alternate ways of saving and investing in your family. Investing is not always about finances. It’s also about the soul and Amy shows how to create a mission statement for your family and ways to invest in your children. These are things that you can implement right now.

It’s certainly a book you want to re-read, take your time and complete the questions and activities at the end of each chapter. I found it informative and enjoyed the humor of Amy. This is a book that reveals it’s more about our relationship with God rather than our works before God.

“Pursuit of Proberbs 31” is a timeless, biblical study for the modern Christian woman by Amy Bayliss. This is a great study guide for women who struggle with the myths that they must be perfect. This book will give the reader a new view on the scripture of Proverbs 31. It concentrates mostly on verses beginning with verse ten, that describe a virtuous women. The author has the ability to draw the reader into the scriptures in a way that will not only give new understanding but will start a desire to ponder for hours on end. The reader is encouraged to grab their own scriptures, paper, pen and highlighter to get the most out of this book. Women will come away with a calm and less stressful view of Proverbs and their role in Gods plan. Men will come away with a new respect for women.

I found myself spending the day with my scriptures, red pencil, journal and pondering the scriptures in a way that was much needed. I can remember sitting in the back row at church looking over the women in the seats in front of me, thinking “They are so perfect. How do they do it.” I knew I could never measure up to these faithful and devoted women in the gospel. After reading this book, I now realize that what I was not seeing was the struggles these women were dealing with inside. I was only viewing the outside appearance. I loved the fact that the author encouraged me to find answers for myself by suggesting verses to read from my own scriptures. There is much knowledge to be gained when we liken the scriptures to our own lives.

I loved this book and recommend it to anyone who wants to realize their own role in Gods plan as well as realize that we do not have to be perfect to enter his kingdom.

I received a free ebook copy of this book from Christian Women Affiliate (CWA) in exchange for a review. This fact has no impact on my review. I give honest reviews.
