More About This Book

Overview

Seated at the table are the typical eclectic looking group of educated, bourgeoisie wannabe, brothas and sistas who are arguing, analyzing, and contemplating the organizing of a protest movement against an Arab-owned supermarket across the street that continuously sell bad hamburger meat. Jimmy the bartender tells me that these cats-some of whom are cantankerous college students, wannabe-poets, and "spoken word artists" that came with Gypsy-have been at it all night, always gathering at the same circled table to discuss everything from politics, neighborhood revitalization, socio-cultural criticism, and James Baldwin, to the New Black Panthers, the Nation of Islam, and the failure of black leadership. Jimmy calls us "Push Nevahda and the Vicious Circle." Me, Gypsy, BJ, Carmen and this new bitch I met on Black Planet named Melina. She's a mixed bitch from Rochester or Belleville who thinks that she's better than everybody else, especially other black folks, because she's educated and has white blood in her. The last time we were here I had to remind her fake ass that everybody sitting at the bar with me got degrees, she ain't the only one. Other friends come and go but we are basically what make up the crew.

I can just visualize this new author sitting next to Oprah talking about his very real and well written memoir!

This is one book that has all of the making's of what a bestseller is all about. Written so truthfully. I couldn't set it down

Incest, Family betrayal-One Man's Remarkable Journey To Self Discovery

Jeremy Williams writes a searing first novel of Push Nevahda. As portrayed by Williams, Nevahda's life is one of horrific sexual abuse that is the catalyst for Nevahda's search for meaning in life. The lost of his humanity is evident, but what makes this book exceptional is the unapologetic journey that Williams' story takes us on. Now the predator, we breathlessly follow Nevahda's Journey with his Vicious Circle of 'friends'. Williams' writing is raw, scathing, and vicious as he searches for his humanity. This is the story. This is the book that will leave you shaking, repulsed, laughing, scorched in your soul. you will be stimulated intellectually as well as sexually, when you read this book. I couldn't put it down until I finished. I wait in anticipation for the next book from this gifted writer, I know it won't be boring.

Push Nevahda and the Vicious Circle:Scenes from a Random Life

I believe Push Nevahda and the Vicious Circle will touch the hearts and souls of every reader in an undeniable way. This book, it seems, should certainly be a hit among young people who are in search of themselves, presenting an example of how the freedom of thought and action can be a liberating force. The writing is sensitive, but straight-forward with an autobiographical flavor. Ultimately, This is a must read!

Jaw dropping, Eye opening, and Perspective changing.

Eloquently written and told. Krass, real, righteous, raw, and written from a place most people dont go or are afraid to acknowledge - the depths of our souls.

Push Nevahda and the Vicious Circle:Scenes from a Random Life

Somewhere between the Memoir and the Novel, the book is superb! As a Memoir it is a moving, high-spirited book and through our conscious participation we begin to understand how culture can bring Push Nevahda¿s Vicious Circle into full focus. As a Novel its words are simple, straightforward, and sprinkled with witty commentary and unabridged dialogue. Jeremy Williams combines the universal meaning of culture and class, bringing us to a new understanding of friendship and family. Williams also understands and shows that the personal is the political¿that somehow every black life today is tied inextricably to the prison and prism of race. The book takes readers on an accelerating adventure that has a soul-changing effect¿helping to break the chains that bind the ghetto mind.
