Overview

‘It is a curse we have lived with, this past century and more, sir,’ he said. ‘That post holds down the ghost of one Peter Christian Holm, one-time administrator of the mill here and the surrounding farms.’

‘Holds down the ghost!’ I repeated, aghast. ‘But how? And why?’

‘Let me tell you the story, sir. Let me take you back into our past...’

Meet the Author

I'm not unknown to Smashwords. In another life, I write children's books, many of which have sold extremely well. This is my other incarnation, and it's at this point that you have to ask yourself, what brought you here? Did you come here to have shivers sent tingling up your spine? Did you come here looking for an alternative, even askant look at life? Well, my friend, you're in the right place. Step inside...

Comfortable? Excellent. Take a look round. My stock is growing all the time so I'm sure you'll be able to find something to suit your tastes. Just a quick snack, is it? Try my Interludes series, short tales of the offbeat and paranormal. Or perhaps your appetite is, shall we say, somewhat healthier. Then I can recommend my full length tales, but I do caution you to be sure to read them with the lights on.

I must tell you, I have a friend. She's young, she's blonde. She sees things hidden to the rest of us. She's a medium. With attitude. She has two series of stories, Shona Madoc (for that is she) and Encounters. The first are full length works, tales of the cases she is called in to deal with. The Encounters series is just that, the chance encounters she makes with discarnate spirits, ghosts - call them what you will. Does she ignore them? Of course not. This is her job, this is what she does. Whether paid to do it or not.

So welcome, my friend. Welcome to my world...

    Great storytelling

A very British ghost story. British humor and a terror that was real in the period when the story takes place. Has a great way of telling people how easy people can turn "evil".

    Just...bad

Usually I can commend a writer's honest effort, but this was just...bad. Humorous, no...maybe laughable. A six year old could tell a better tale. Although I was told the ghost was evil, and was supposed to make me feel terror, the only thing that was terrible was the writing. This made no sense whatsoever. 50 pgs
