A useful collection of activities to introduce students to the media center or reinforce library and critical-thinking skills. Chapters focus on holidays from September to June, and connect to various areas of the curriculum from geography to presidents, and from weather to music. A final chapter offers tips on puzzle creation and includes basic patterns with which readers can create their own. Exercises require students to become active learners, using library resources to sleuth out solutions. Each chapter begins with an annotated listing of the activities included, as well as ways to customize them. An appendix lists activities according to grade levels (K-2, 3-5, 6-8, 9-12), subjects (fine arts, literature, math, orientations, science, seasonal, social studies, etc.), and formats (crossword, hidden word, dot to dot, fill in the blanks, etc.).
